Simply Wool Worsted

$6.99 100g / Hank

You’d have to shear your own sheep to get any more natural, this 100% Eco wool yarn is good for you and Mother Earth. The product of centuries of shepherding tradition, the balanced twist and dense, plump hand gives this yarn fabulous definition for textured or cabled sweaters and accessories. No dyes or bleach are used to process the yarn; the eight natural shades are created by meticulously sorting the fiber as it comes off the sheep. As colors are naturally occurring, some variation from skein to skein is normal.

Ordered one if each if the greys to sample with. Lovely colors, nice “round” yarn for stitch definition in cables. Not a merino soft yarn but not scratchy for me personally (although everyone’s definition of scratchy is different). I am a handspinner, weaver, knitter who loves wool in its more natural, undyed form. This is a very reasonably priced workhorse of a yarn. Will buy sweater quantity.

This is amazing wool yarn! I am a fairly new knitter but long time crocheted and I will be using this as a staple from now on. Great stitch definition, good for those fogging times, washes well, and super squishy warm.

I am knitting my first sweater and took a chance with this yarn, which I had never used. I wanted a more rustic yarn and this fits the bill and is a great price. When I first started knitting my sweater I was afraid this was going to be too scratchy but it seems to get softer and softer over time and has been lovely to knit with and just has a gorgeous look. I will definitely use it again.

Quite squishy and as others have said it is a true worsted (other KnitPicks yarns - while fabulous - are questionable when it comes to their weight classifications). I used two hanks in the Wallace shade to crochet a scarf for my dad. It was springy yet a little bit scratchy while working it up but after handwashing and blocking it softened up quite considerably. My dad LOVES it and commented on how it was light yet warm, and not scratchy against his neck. I will also say that after handwashing the color lightened up a bit, but was still slightly darker than the shade in the picture. But still a very attractive color and my dad was super pleased with it. I'm glad I still have four hanks leftover because the hubs has also requested some winter gear with it. :)

I really like this yarn. It is true to worsted weight. I am usually a tight knitter and actually had to go down a needle size to get gauge for my Veronika Cardi. It definitely has a...homespun feel to it. I have picked out a few pieces of hay as I have gone along. It is also a little scratchy, but I think it makes a great sweater yarn due to being very hardy. I plan on buying more for another cardigan.

Can someone who posted a review please tell me if this yarn is "itchy"

Bought just a few skeins not knowing what to expect. This yarn is tight, robust and should do well for garments not intended to be worn near the skin. (I have a fisherman's sweater in mind.)

This is a wonderful yarn, I nearly cancelled my order for it but so glad that I did not. I actually used it to dye with indigo and it came out beautifully. Aside from that it is everything I'm looking for in a yarn, 100% Eco, several great natural colors to choose from. The yardage is great and feel great! I hope that Knitpicks will keep this yarn! I will buy again!

I love it! Just ordered one skein (Winnie) to try it. Making a Bankhead hat. The yarn is very plump and squishy. It's thicker than wool of the andes worsted, so it doesn't lend itself to using those two yarns together. It's lightly tonal and really pretty.I will definitely be ordering more!! Hoping knitpicks will make a sport or fingering weight.
