Wool of the Andes Bulky Yarn

$4.99 100g / hank

For the sweater you’ll wear a thousand times or the blanket you’ll use every night, our classic wool yarn is spun and plied carefully to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist. Spun from Peruvian wool, the strong fiber has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape that serves a wide variety of uses. Wonderfully warm for all weather, this sturdy, all-purpose yarn has excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. It is ideal for cabled sweaters, textured stitch afghans, and every day accessories. While careful hand washing will keep your stitches crisp and sweaters long-lived, Wool of the Andes also felts beautifully with warm water and agitation, creating a fabric even more warm and durable than knitting alone.

Wool of the Andes Bulky is a heavy weight yarn that knits up quickly into thick and cushy projects. Bulky weight sweaters in this classic wool will keep you warm in almost any weather, while bulky accessories can be finished that much quicker. From richly textured weekend hats to the most delightfully chunky cables, this is the perfect yarn for that last minute project.

Wool of the Andes is also available in Sport and Worsted weights; the machine washable convenience of Superwash in Worsted and Superwash in Bulky; and the classic style of rustic Tweed.

“Knit Picks- great yarn; great prices. I used Wool of the Andes for my Enchanted Forest Fingerless gloves and it is strong, the colors are vibrant, and the cost was low. I used 3 skeins for two gloves, and it cost me $2.19 per skein plus shipping- under $10!” www.zoescheffy.blogspot.com, February 2009

This is gorgeous yarn. I used it on a knitting machine to make hats and it comes out thick and dense. The colors are beautiful. I didn't expect it to come out so well!

I love this yarn. It is easy to work with, has beautiful, consistent colors, and makes a nice, warm blanket. I made a mermaid pouch for my sister for her birthday, and it has been a year since - there is minimal pilling and still has great integrity. A very durable yarn. I am hesitant to work with anything else.

This yarn is horrible. It feel like redheart yarn. It’s scratchy and not pleasant.

Not a bulky weight, maybe a heavy worsted. Price has more than doubled since the 16 skeins I bought in May. Way to expensive for a low quality yarn!

I bought the porcini to make a sweater and this is the softest wool ever. I love the chunky look to it and how fast the sweater is knitting up. I am definitely going to use this again, I think it would make a gorgeous blanket. For Hanna and anyone else having trouble unwinding the hank, I found it helpful to put it around my neck, or someone else's, and then unwrap and wind it into a ball
