Swish DK Yarn

$4.99 50g / ball

Swish is the Superwash of knitters’ dreams! By selecting high grade Merino wool (20.5 microns), we have been able to produce a machine washable yarn that is super soft - definitely worthy of being worn against a baby's skin. Just the ticket for children’s clothes, afghans, charity knitting and gift knitting. No need to worry about the care your knitting will receive since this yarn can be machine washed and will come out even softer than before! The DK weight is ideal for color work and Fair Isle, making warm and colorful hats, mittens, pullovers, even baby bootees.

Note: For best machine wash results, turn the garment inside out and wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. You may want to wash projects made from darker colors by themselves for the first few washes in case the yarn bleeds a bit.

"I love this yarn - it's so soft, washable, and comes in beautiful colors.  When it's knit at more of a worsted gauge, the fabric is so light and drapy, yet snuggly too!"
-Amy, Knit Picks customer

"My order arrived and I am very pleased. It IS soft enough for a baby and the colors are beautiful. And I don't have to worry about someone being afraid to wear it for fear of washing it. Thank you so much, I can't wait to knit it up!" Julie N., Knit Picks customer

This yarn is so soft and the colors are very nice, However, it REALLY stretches and does not like to bounce back so make sure you adjust accordingly

This is my favorite KnitPicks yarn! It is so soft and easy to knit with.

I use Swish yarns for hats and mittens, especially for baby and child gifts. I ordered the Honey color and it was not at all like the description. Rather than looking like honey, it was a very mustard color. Our family laughingly calls it "Pukey Yellow." It is not at all usable for a baby hat and mittens. Who wants a mustard yellow hat on a beautiful baby girl infant with peach complexion?? Nope. Not worth sending it back, so I'll donate. Seems like I'm not the only one having an issue with the descriptions of the colors. I know screens are different, but the descriptions need to be better.

As always, excellent yarn. And, unfortunately, as always, the colors are lovely, but don't really match either the photos or the descriptions. I would like to comment on 2 colors. Wonderland Heather to me looks like mint green. Like mint ice cream or the inside of Andes Candies. It is very pretty, but I would not use the word baby blue anywhere in the description. Sugar Plum in the photo looks sort of like a glowing lavender and the description uses the word violet. I would call it dusty rose and to me it leans more toward pink than violet or lavender. OK, I'll comment again on the color Squirrel Heather. Once again, it doesn't look much like the photo (it's browner in person), but I really like it and am going to order some more to use as the background color for a fair isle pullover. I'm loving it with Eggplant and Wonderland Heather.

I've used this yarn many times and just received another order today. I'm giving it an excellent rating again because obviously I like it a lot or I would not keep reordering it. But I would like to comment again on the colors. This time I ordered white, eggplant, wonderland heather, cornmeal, twilight, dove heather and squirrel heather. The white and eggplant are dandy and match both the descriptions and the photos. The cornmeal is quite a bit darker than the photo, but matches the description well. It's a nice color, but not the soft, almost neutral straw color I was expecting from the photo. The twilight in the photo is a somewhat vibrant blue. In reality, it matches the description pretty well, and is muted. The squirrel heather looks rather grayish in the photo, but in reality I don't see much gray, it's like camel - the squirrels in my yard don't look like this. The dove heather is fine - I have used it before in Stroll sock yarn and it is a fab neutral. Thanks, Knitpicks for such nice yarn, but, goodness, some of the photos are just not accurate. People really care about the colors.
