Simply Alpaca Aran

$12.99 100g / Hank

You’d have to be an alpaca to get a more natural fiber, this is all of the compelling, next-to-skin softness of alpaca for the sustainably minded. The natural warmth of alpaca fiber combine with the heavier weight to create a wonderful yarn for luxuriously cozy garments and accessories that knit up in a trice. No dyes or bleach are used to process the yarn; a full spectrum of natural shades are created by meticulously sorting the fiber. As colors are naturally occurring, some variation from skein to skein is normal.

Knitpicks needs to get their information correct on this yarn. The yarn itself is nice but it's NOT Aran weight and it has nothing to do with being a "gauge complainer". The website shows needles 7-9 HOWEVER the label shows needles 10-11. This is a light 2 ply yarn and much closer to a DK as others suggest. This definitely a "mis-labeled" product.

You know what, gauge complainers, make a swatch and adjust. This yarn is awesome, it makes a dreamy soft fabric for a totally reasonable price. I made my daughter a cardigan, and I’m going to get more of this for myself when it’s back in stock. Love. Love. Love.

NOT Aran weight, so that was disappointing. The Black colour is itchy, the White colour is much softer. I have yet to knit with the Grey yarn.

I give this yarn a poor rating because it is mis marked. It is not worsted/ Aran weight. Not close ! This has made me have doubts about the weight of the Simply Wool Worsted yarn. This might be a light DK ; it does not have the density of the Andean Treasure Alpaca. A great disappointment.

Love this yarn. It's incredibly soft so I think if you are irritated by it it's probably a general alpaca thing, not a this-yarn thing! It has a lot of bloom and sticks together very well, which means it's an easy knit despite being fairly loose two-ply yarn, and it can be painful to frog. It's very forgiving, though--even after me tearing at it here and there to frog it, it knit back up without problem.

I like the fiber and the color, but there is no way this is aran weight. I am very familiar with the gauge and body of aran sweaters, and this yarn was more like a standard DK weight. Fortunately I bought extra and can work it doubled up.

I LOVE this yarn!!! So soft! Beautiful neutral colors! Also very easy to work with, I made a sitter hooded romper with Alaina and KnitPicks' short interchangeable and let me tell you, it was just a dream to knit up!! (my computer apparently displays these differently as the Alfie was darker)

I found this yarn to be extremely itchy. I was knitting a union suit which is meant to be worn next to skin and I found this so uncomfortable personally. I do have sensitive skin, but I was really surprised at how uncomfortable this was.

Excellent yarn and excellent alpaca. Very soft, great drape, lovely colors, and good definition. I'm docking a star because this isn't aran weight. Personally I find it to be somewhere between sport and worsted weight, it most definitely is not meant for size 10-11. Kinda annoyed me when made a swatch as I had bought for a very particular pattern that called for worsted/aran weight yarn.

First let me say I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't started knitting with it yet so can't attest to how well it knits up. That said, it is an amazingly soft and snuggly yarn, wonderful to the touch and I love the colors. I can't wait to finish one of the other .. 4 or 5.. projects I am currently working on, so I can start knitting with this yarn. Beautiful, soft, snuggly yarn!

Soft! Good yardage for the price and a good feel while knitting. Doesn't split and shows good stitch definition for me. Good variety of colours. Knit Picks puts 100% Alpaca in the hand of the average knitter. Kudos!
