Simply Alpaca Aran

$12.99 100g / Hank

You’d have to be an alpaca to get a more natural fiber, this is all of the compelling, next-to-skin softness of alpaca for the sustainably minded. The natural warmth of alpaca fiber combine with the heavier weight to create a wonderful yarn for luxuriously cozy garments and accessories that knit up in a trice. No dyes or bleach are used to process the yarn; a full spectrum of natural shades are created by meticulously sorting the fiber. As colors are naturally occurring, some variation from skein to skein is normal.

Absolutely, love this yarn! Bought color Alfonse, made cabled hat. It is very warm and soft.

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous yarn! I bought the dark grey Alexis shade, and am currently using it held together with a natural black pure alpaca yarn from my stash to create a bulky tweed cardigan. It's amazingly light and fluffy, and luxurious to knit with. I can't wait to wear this jacket. Wow. I'm going to purchase as much of this yarn as I can, in case it's only around for the short term.

This yarn is wonderfully soft I love the natural color range. It's definitely a little lighter than an Aran like other reviews have said, but I didn't find it as dramatic a difference as some. I swatched for a shawl on size 6-9 needles and found 9 was the biggest I could go for something that I'm ok with being a bit airy & drapey. If i was aiming for a tighter neater stitch, I would have been much happier with the swatch with size 7 needles. I'm working on the shawl now so I can't speak to how the yarn holds up over time but it's a dream to knit with.

Absolutely beautiful and lovely to work with. Loses a mark for mud-labeling of weight but if you want classic beauty, warmth and softness you won't be disappointed. I'm double-knitting with 4.5 mm needles and that seems to work. Could have used 4mm. On a scarf to test it, will do full curling sweater next. Simply gorgeous.

A Light-Worsted/DK (3). Soft, beautiful to knit with; great for stockinette with drape. I knit "Snowflower", a yoked fairisle sweater, hanging the drapey pure alpaca from a wool/alpaca stranded yoke at tunic length, split hem, detachable cowl. Excellent yarn in all ways; next to the skin fine. Mislabeled as Aran, but truly great using 4 mm needles; gorgeous fabric. Tricky to frog, but not impossible. Only one knot in five skeins.
