Provincial Tweed

$12.99 100g / Hank

With bright colors and subtle tweedy neps, this surprisingly soft yarn brings an exuberant and folksy charm to our selection of tweeds. The Fine Highland fiber has a soft hand with plenty of drape, but retains the solid structure of wool, making this perfect for cabling. Each colorway is created by spinning together a lighter and darker tone of the same color, which knits up into a surprisingly uniform fabric with wonderful depth of color. Neutral Donegal neps bring a distinct visual texture. Donegal is a series of viscose neps (think slubs or bits of lint) that are suspended in a very fine acrylic mesh which allows them to be spun alongside the longer wool. With such rich colors and that signature look of tweed, you have a vibrant and rustic yarn with plenty of charm.

Please! Pretty Please make some more colors? I especially would love to have an deep evergreen/hunter type of green for a cozy cardigan. <3

This yarn is absolutely beautiful! I have two hanks of the pumpkin pie color and it's brighter than the image lets on. The flecks of color complement it really well, the yarn is super soft and easy to work with. The only complaint here is that it's not really worsted weight, but dk. I recommend size 5-7US needles for this rather than the stated 6-9US. I will definitely be buying more of this in the future!

This is my new favorite yarn. All the softness with washability. Don't need to say any more!!! Thank you KnitPicks!

I bought this yarn planning to make an Aran sweater. Based on the pictures I thought it would be a heavier yarn; it is much thinner than I expected. Many of the tufts stand out from the surface, obscuring the cable pattern. I agree it is deliciously soft, but it turned out not well suited to the plan I had for it.

Love this yarn. Bought Candy Apple and Winter Walk. Both were true to color. Was worried it might be splitty because it seems loosely plied, but didn't have an issue once while knitting my hat. Very soft and cable definition looks good. The red did bleed a little with washing, which is often the case with reds so not a negative in my opinion, just an fyi. Cannot speak to the durability of the yarn yet but it looks and feels great. Would recommend.
