Bare Felici Sock Yarn

$9.99 100g / hank

The superwash Merino in this blend is 19.5 microns (layman's translation: super-duper soft). The nylon lends strength and durability to the wool, making it suitable for the rigorous wear socks get. And the machine washability means you will be wearing them constantly. Have fun playing with the stripes in other small projects like hats, mittens and baby clothes. Perfect for hand dyeing.

Yarn seems durable and soft. Took dye well.

For some reasom, I'm not particularly fond of bold, solid stripes in multiple colors, as the pre-dyed Felici has. But after reading its review page on Ravelry and 'listening' to people in the KnitPicks Lovers group there go on and on about how soft and perfect Felici is made me feel I was missing out. So when I noticed there is a Bare version I bought a bunch and WOW! Its reputation is well deserved. I can usually tell when a yarn has nylon content but this is sooo soft I couldn't believe it wasn't 100% low micron count merino. It's got the perfect amount of twist so the plies (plys?) dont separate, but not so much that it twists back up on itself while I'm knitting, like some 'sock' yarn does. It takes ripping out/re-knitting like a champ, and has great stitch definition. It's delicate enough to make beautiful lace shawls, which is what I'm making now in the natural creamy white, but the nylon content means it'll make some awesomely soft but sturdy socks too. I just bought some of the new worsted weight Bare Felici too! I can't wait to try my hand at dyeing some of it. Thanks KnitPicks, for making undyed Felici available in both fingering and worsted weights!

Bare Felici - what could be better for a dyer? Not much.'s on sale. That's even better! Soaks up acid dyes like crazy.

I recently bought 7 skeins to dye my own self striping yarn and this yarn is amazing!! I absolutely love the way the yarn took the dye, remained soft through heating (and in one case accidental boiling). In typical felici fashion this yarn knitted up beautifully and remained soft. Please keep this bare yarn around FOREVER! It will remain my go to yarn for socks and now for dying too! Thank you Knitpicks! Awesome addition to your bare yarn line!!
