The Mighty Oak Hat
The Mighty Oak Hat is named after the 550-year-old oak trees at Sugarcreek Metro Park in Dayton, Ohio, where my family loves to hike. Just like these oak trees stand tall and mighty against the elements, so too does The Mighty Oak Hat stay durable and warm during everyday wear. I designed this hat for my husband who wanted a snug fitting hat to work in and for my son who needed a warm hat to play outside in during chilly weather days.
The double brim stays folded in place using a provisional cast on and knit together as you go method. Given that there is not a cast on edge, the brim is extremely stretchy and can fit a range of sizes. Choose the size that is closest to your head circumference for a stretchy and snug fit.
