Protea Sweater

This simple but interesting sweater takes its name from Proteus, the Greek god of rivers. An unbroken Garter Rib flows down the length of the arm, from saddle shoulder to cuff, like a river’s current, while the Garter Stitch body resembles little ripples at the water’s surface.

Protea is worked flat from the top down, beginning with saddle shoulders and ending above the bottom ribbing. The sleeves are picked up from the body and worked flat to above the cuff. The sides and sleeves are then seamed, and the bottom ribbing and cuffs are worked in the round.

Sample is 40” size; model is 33.5” bust.
