Traditional Estonian construction techniques and stitch patterns are used in this large lacy piece. Enjoy learning more about the history of Estonian lace, as you create a beautiful shawl of your own!
Karukell Shawl is knit in one piece, the center panel first and the edging picked up and knitted on. A Garter Stitch border frames the entire center panel and another separates the Karukell Pattern from the Greta Garbo Pattern within the center panel. Unlike traditional Estonian lace edges, Karukell's lace edge is picked up and worked in the round around the entire shawl. Each row is very long, but there is much less finishing at the end.
This pattern is fully charted.
