Dandelion Shawl
Inspired by the style and tradition of the Gansey Fisherman's Sweater, Dandelion is constructed using worsted weight yarn, knit on slightly smaller needles. The center back is a square featuring a traditional all-over diamond cable pattern. The first cable panel is knit as an extension of this center piece, with a Latvian braid worked as a border between the two sections. This will mimic the look of the picked up sts for the second cable panel. This unique construction means there is little finishing work once the knitting is completed.
The result is a slightly oversized wrap that can be worn as an outer layer in the fall or as an extra layer of warmth over your coat in the winter. Wearing this shawl belted, or with the point in front and the sides wrapped back and around to the front will give you a totally different look from the traditional way of wearing a shawl. The cables in this pattern are both charted and written out.
