Bianca Hat
  0 customer reviews

This is a great project to learn and get comfortable with flat Brioche knitting! Worked flat, this hat gives a sideways twist to the standard Brioche Rib, with the main color Brioche lines wrapping horizontally around the head. The hat can be made shorter for a standard fit or longer for a fold-up brim, folded up as much as you like. If the brim folds up, the side with the contrasting color will show on the brim, adding interest to the hat!

This is the sister hat to the Katarina Hat, which will teach two-color Brioche Rib worked in the round, and how to work decreases with Brioche. That one is a bit easier so it might be a better one to make first if you’re brand new to Brioche! This pattern will teach you two-color Brioche worked flat, and working short rows in two-color Brioche.

Two-color Brioche Rib is worked flat by working across one row with one color, working all the knit stitches of the rib, and slipping the purl stitches, then working again across the same row in the same direction with the other color, working all the purl stitches and slipping the knit stitches. Then you’ll go back in the other direction, first with the first color then with the second color. Slips are worked with yarn-overs going around them, creating the squishy Brioche ribbed fabric.
