Swish DK Yarn

$4.99 50g / Skein

Swish is the Superwash of knitters’ dreams! By selecting high grade Merino wool (20.5 microns), we have been able to produce a machine washable yarn that is super soft - definitely worthy of being worn against a baby's skin. Just the ticket for children’s clothes, afghans, charity knitting and gift knitting. No need to worry about the care your knitting will receive since this yarn can be machine washed and will come out even softer than before! The DK weight is ideal for color work and Fair Isle, making warm and colorful hats, mittens, pullovers, even baby bootees.

Note: For best machine wash results, turn the garment inside out and wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. You may want to wash projects made from darker colors by themselves for the first few washes in case the yarn bleeds a bit.

"I love this yarn - it's so soft, washable, and comes in beautiful colors.  When it's knit at more of a worsted gauge, the fabric is so light and drapy, yet snuggly too!"
-Amy, Knit Picks customer

"My order arrived and I am very pleased. It IS soft enough for a baby and the colors are beautiful. And I don't have to worry about someone being afraid to wear it for fear of washing it. Thank you so much, I can't wait to knit it up!" Julie N., Knit Picks customer

I finally finished a cable sweater with this yarn, what a slog - thought I'd never get through it, but what a beautiful end product. The cable detail shows up wonderfully and the fibre is soft enough so I can wear it with nothing underneath. The yarn has some spring to it so I believe the cable detail will not collapse after washing. The wool did split a little but nothing that wasn't manageable nor did it in anyway impact the final look of the sweater. I haven't washed the sweater yet but can imagine that with gentle hand washing this yarn will hold up well. I spent $275 on Rowan wool (Alpaca soft dk) and after the first wash the cables flattened out and the sweater stretched - yes I hand washed it and handled with much care, soooo even if this DK swish does the same thing I've spent less than half that on the yarn. I'm a very happy customer!!

I ordered two colors of this yarn and they are not at all as shown in the picture. I am really disappointed.

This yarn is super soft and easy to work with. I love the colors and am always a big fan of knitpicks. My only complaint is after only one wear my sons sweater is very pilly and fuzzy on the sleeves. Granted he is 6yr and this sweater is for play so he isn't delicate with it but still seems to be aging prematurely.

I would like to comment on 2 colors. Green Tea Heather does not look anything like the picture on my computer screen. I don't see any "heather" in it at all. It's a bit hard to describe - somewhere in between olive green and light chartreuse. A very interesting color. The 2nd color is Allspice. Holy cow, this is a fabulous color. The description says it is "soft orange." No. It is an intense highly saturated color. I paired it up with Delft Heather and white and made a "flurry" sweater. It was stupendous.

This yarn is so soft and the colors are very nice, However, it REALLY stretches and does not like to bounce back so make sure you adjust accordingly
