Bare Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn

$4.99 100g / hank

High quality worsted weight yarn that is perfect for hand dyeing. Cream colored straight off the sheep (well - washed, carded, spun and plied, of course) and very soft with the cushiony feel of handspun. This yarn also felts very well because it has not been bleached. Mix your hand-dyed creations with any of the other Wool of the Andes line.

I have been dyeing this yarn as a variegated I have gotten some unbelievable results I have used Wiltons food coloring and Kool-Aid and now I plan to try some Procion acid dye by Jacquard I expect good results from it, too,and I don't plan to stop ordering I crocheted several hats and they are beautiful

One of the best yarns for dying. I have sold hand dyed yarns for less than a year and one of my online customers LOVES IT.

Ever since I watched Chemknits' yarn dyeing videos on YT, I've been slowly stocking up on some of KnitPicks bare yarns. Unlike some of the other offerings, I wasn't really expecting this Highland wool to be very soft, and that would have been fine, since it was just purchased to practice dyeing. I got a nice surprise when I received it, however, and saw how amazingly lofty, soft, and "squishy" it is. I knit a swatch and fell in love! The uniform 2 ply twist holds it's shape while working with it, and knits up into a beautiful fabric. I tucked the swatch inside my shirt and wore it for a few hours to test the "itch factor" and there wasn't any! Nice. :)

I bought this yarn to knit a baby blanket. I was worried it would not be soft enough, but I was wrong, it is super soft, and a dream to knit with. I am using it undyed, and it is a beautiful cream color. I would definitely recommend it.
