Options Short Interchangeable Caspian Needle Set

$44.99

The Short Options Interchangeable Needle Set is designed with shorter needle tips that connect snag-free to our distinctive emerald cable. This set includes two cables - simply attach the needle tips to create to create a versatile 16" interchangeable circular needle perfect for hats, sleeves, and other, more compact projects. Tip sizes are US 4,5,6,7,8,9,and 10 (3.5mm,3.75mm,4mm,4.5mm,5mm,5.5mm,and 6mm), and each tip is 2.75" long.

Featuring smooth joins, perfectly tapered tips and flexible cables, this set includes 9 of our bestselling needle tips and 2 cables to create a 16" circular knitting needle - all of which are stored in a handy vinyl case. Two small cable keys are included, which allow you to tighten your needle tips to the cables. Working on multiple projects that call for the same needle size? Use the included endcaps to safely store your project as you start the next.

Boasting the same strong and smooth layers of laminated birch that you know and love, Caspian shows off a sea-inspired colorway along with a distinctive emerald cord to complement its oceanic hues.

Note: While all of the Knit Picks Option Interchangeable Needles will fit on the shorter cables, we strongly recommend not using the longer tips on these cables - the circumference will not measure 16" and your needles can bend or break.

This was the best purchase ever! I love the feel and look of the needles and I always have on hand the tools I need to knit what I make most often, hats.

The only complaint that I have is that one of my size 8 needles split from the tip right down to the middle. Im a loose knitter, I've never had this happen before. I did call customer service to have it replaced and it is being replaced with no charge. I wish that Knitpicks would come out with a nickle plated shorts set. I am leary of using this birthday gift set of needles now. and will keep it for sentimental value instead of actually knitting with them.

As a knitting instructor I have found my standard set of Caspians indispensable. I recommend an interchangeable set to all of my students because having a variety of needle lengths and sizes readily available is both convenient and economical. Being able to knit virtually any project with these types of needles is also a huge plus. Now that Knit Picks has come out with a "short" set, the possibilities seem endless. I have held off on ordering these for one simple reason. I wish they were available in the other colors as well. Would love to have these in "Majestic" or "Rainbow" hopefully they will come soon so I will have another great product to demonstrate and recommend to my students.

The KP Options Caspians are by far my favourite interchangeable needles. I have a set of Addi Click's, Knitters Pride and Knitters Pride Karbonz - and I ALWAYS reach for my Caspians first. They are warm and quiet, pliable and I've never had a problem with them snagging, or coming unscrewed. LOVE them. Only thing I didn't like was the case they came in, I was always losing my end tips out the side - a simple change in organiser was all it took!

I bought these as a whim on sale. Whim! They are wonderful! I am using them with hats, sleeves on baby sweaters. They are lovely and smooth, bendy and fluid--which helps on small circumferences--and they feel terrific in hands. Watch the videos on how to use the tightening mechanism and you will be off to the races. Thank you for such a great upgrade on a great idea.

These are perfect for knitting hats and stranded scarves in the round. I thought the short tips would be uncomfortable to use, but I was very wrong. I love these, and I find them to be nearly indispensable.

I have the larger Caspian interchangeables and really love them. I will order the short set BUT I really wish like some of the other reviewers that you would have them in smaller sizes (0, 1, 2, 3).

I have been searching for these needles for years. I make a lot of Chemo hats and try to make them light but airy, so much easier in the round with these short needles. Have tried others but not short enough. Perfect. Now could we have them in larger sizes 8MM to 10MM? Buy the set you won't regret it if you make hats or socks.

The needles are fantastic.. Would like to have them in metal . Please consider my request .

LOVE these needles. Since I tend to make lots of small items, I use them for everything, but they've been great on larger projects too. I just feel like the shorter tips fit my hands better and help me get out of tough spots more easily than the longer ones do. Wish these came in even small sizes, and other colors.

I LOVE shorties!! For some reason, knitting with them is actually quicker and easier on my hands. I completed entire sleeves using the shorties - this is great because I don't like using double-pointed needles. I'll buy another set if they go on sale. Thanks!

I have this set and love it, as I do all of the Knitpicks sets. Like others, I would LOVE to see the short needle set include sizes 0, 1, 2, and 3.

I order a set of the short needles 16 inch for hats and sweater sleeves, I love them! Why did it take so long for someone to come up with such a wonderful idea. These work great and are so easy on your wrists and hands. Thank you the wait was worth it!!

These work FANTASTIC on hats! If you'd like a free one, this easy slouchy beanie on Ravelry worked wonderfully with these needles. You will not believe how quick it is to knit on one set of circulars that is just the right size. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/f302-slouchy-hat

I love these needles. They just feel good in your hands. They are smooth and even warm. Plus, they just look so pretty. I knit a lot of hats and cowls so I love the short tips. I do stop and make sure the join is tight just in case. It's only a matter of time that I order the other interchangeable set!

I just finished the first hat I've made with the short interchangeable needles, and the whole project went great. Joining in the round with these needles went so well. Joining with longer needles was always a struggle.

Words cannot describe how much I love these needles. I have been dreaming of a 16" set forever. I bought them when they were first released and I have not been disappointed! Smooth joins, soft, pliable cables and the lovely Caspian coloring. Thank you Knit Picks for listening to client feedback and creating these!

I absolutely love this needles! It was a rough start, but it was user error. I wasn't tightening it as tight as I should. Really have to crank the connection. If I could post of picture of my current project (hat) on my size 4 needles, I would! They are beautiful and functional, and the perfect size for hats and smaller projects!

I am so very glad purchased this set! I started a hat on a pair of subpar needles (horrible) and once these arrived I started the hat over and LOVE the way they knit up the yarn I am using. I also have the regular Caspian interchangeable set.

I received these as a gift from my daughter and think they are wonderful as are all of your needles? The only issue I have is that with a shorter needle comes the issue of size 0, 1,2 etc. please offer small tips as they are very necessary for the shorter cord. Love Knit Picks .......

Beautiful needles, the quality and design are truly perfect! Points are the best I have found in wood and the joins never catch on my yarns. Thank you again KP, Keep the great products coming, I have to say, because of the great quality and service I always check here first when I am searching for new yarn or needles!!

I'm SO happy that KnitPicks now offers a "shortie" 16 inch interchangeable needle set! Buying this set is less expensive than buying several fixed 16" circulars separately. They're easier to store and super convenient to use too. I love that they also sell tips and cords separately, so I can have more than one set of needle tips in my often used sizes. While knitting in the round using the Magic Loop method works great with my other KP IC sets, (with the longer tips and cables) I sometimes find stopping to adjust loops and turning needles around every half round a little tiresome. With the "shorties" I can just cast on and GO, working round and round without interruption. It's really increased my speed without any additional effort on my part! I usually hold my needles **very** close to the tips and at first it felt a little uncomfortable to hold the shorter needles that way. I soon figured out that holding them just slighly further down the needle shaft eliminated that. I'm glad I waited and didn't buy a 16" set elsewhere. My needles and cables were checked carefully upon arrival and they're perfect. But I know from my own experience, as well as the experiences shared by others on the "KnitPicks Lovers" Ravelry group, that if a defect should ever arise, one quick phone call to KP customer service and the problem will be resolved- without spending money to send the defective item back, and without having to drive to a local (or not so local) retail shop to get a replacement, as is the case with most other companies. One tip I'd like to share. With any interchangeable needle set of this type, it's important to use the included tightening tool to assist when screwing your needle tips onto the cable ends. That little bit of extra leverage assures a secure connection and your tips will never come unscrewed while knitting. This is even more important with shorter tips that have less surface area to hold while twisting. Here's KnitPicks quick video showing how to use the tool properly http://tutorials.knitpicks.com/wptutorials/options-cable-key-tutorial/

I recieved these as a gift for Christmas and am in love! They seem well constructed and the tips attach to the cables seamlessly! I'm super excited to cast on my first project using these tonight. I make a lot of hats and cowl scarves, so these short needles are easier to handle for most of the items I make. I'm hoping they come out with some smaller/larger needle sizes to add to my set ??

Love the set. Needles are perfect size to knit in the round. Hope I can find the same kind of short tips in any kind of metal, so I can buy it

I am so impressed with the short interchangeables. I have small artheritic hands and find these needles more comfortable and I get a better tension with knitting. Thank you

I just received my shorties in the mail and cast on a hat... they are amazing! I have a full set of regular interchangeables and love them, and I've been waiting for what feels like FOREVER for 16" interchangeables from Knit Picks. I'm so psyched for these!

I LOVE this set. They are very comfortable to hold (not like the 9 inch circulars, which I like, but it took a bit of a learning curve to use them) and work really great for small projects, like hats, sleeves, etc. A really great investment.

Wow! This is a really nice set! I truly hope that Knit Picks comes out with these short needles made in the nickel plated brass. Often I really like the speed that nickel plating gives me, although with really slippery yarns I like these wood needles. Excellent set, and so much more compact than having a bunch of fixed circular needles

So glad I treated myself to this set! Had to take a break from the sweater I'm knitting to give a rave review--high quality needles and so convenient. I need different sizes of 16" needles for the collar and sleeves of this project and the set is so handy!

5 out of 5 stars

I bought these the minute they were available because I am making boot cuffs for Christmas gifts. At first the points looked very short and I was afraid they would be awkward to use. But I cast on the first boot cuff that evening and I absolutely love them. It's so much faster than using dpn's, especially for the cable pattern I am using. Well worth the money.

3 out of 5 stars

I really like the idea of these but I bought size 8 to try them out and for me, the needles are just a bit to short to hold comforably. It really slowed me down and made how I hold circular needles kind of uncomfortable because they don't come far enough down into my hands to hold on to. They are cute and the color is fun but I may resort to the regular knit picks circular needles for most beanies and just use magic loop. I was checking reviews to see if anyone else has found it to be difficult as well to move quickly and comfortbly with these mini needles. Maybe others will comment.

I love my shorties! While the length is the same as the other 16" needles when measured together with the metal join, they are shorter than the regular interchangeable needles. When I use them with longer cords, I find that it is easier for me to do circular knitting as the circle is more rounded - much more comfortable for my hands. I also love the emerald green color, it looks very exotic!

I love, LOVE the Options Short Interchangeable Caspian Wood Needle set. I am just finishing my second sleeved poncho using sz. 9 needles. I used the Harmony Wood Needle set for front and back, and for ribbed collar of 96 sts increasing to 120 sts (instead of knitting flat then sewing the seam), I joined in round for the 6 1/2" long collar. This worked very well with the Harmony Interchangeable set. When I made this poncho the first time (in June), I did not have the short interchangeable set, so did the sleeves in similar manner (joined to work in round) and used DPNs. There was lots of twisting and turning to complete the 52 st. k2 P2 ribbing. I purchased the short interchangeable set between knitting the two ponchos so on this second one, for sleeves I picked up the stitches, joined in the round on the Short Interchangeable set, and zipped through the 10" sleeves effortlessly. The needle tips feel so comfortable (just like the Harmony set) and the 16" length was perfect for the 52 stitches. Thank you for coming out with this set. I had sock knitting in mind when purchasing, but I believe this set will be used in many ways.

These needles are fantastic, especially for the times when you want to knit a hat and - like me - you have too many long cables for your interchangeables, it's awkward to knit with long needles and short cables, AND you don't know Magic Loop. Smooth, lovely and easy to use, and the joins are flawless and strong.

5 out of 5 stars

I've made three hats using these short needles so far, and I have to say that I just adore them. They needed a bit of use to get rid of the 'sticky' feel, but once I was on the 2nd project they started gliding perfectly. I swapped to DPN once I started the decreases, but really prefer these short needles to the magic loop method of working in the round. Great price. My one concern is that the join isn't perfectly smooth, but I'm not too concerned at this point.

I was so happy to see this set offered, I had to buy it immediately. They appear less pointy than the other Options needles but it hasn't been an issue at all. The finish is very smooth and is a joy to knit with. They aren't, of course, as slick as metal needles but I actually think that it a plus when working with small circumferences. Thumbs up!

I love these needles. I am excited they finally have a short option that will work for hats. I have the longer set of interchangeable needles, but was disappointed that the length was too long to work in the round (without magic loop) for hats. Thank you KnitPicks for listening.
