Wool of the Andes Tweed Yarn

$3.19 - $3.99 50g / Ball  Original Price: $3.99

For the sweater you’ll wear a thousand times or the blanket you’ll use every night, our classic wool yarn is spun and plied carefully to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist. Spun from Peruvian wool, the strong fiber has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape that serves a wide variety of uses. Wonderfully warm for all weather, this sturdy, all-purpose yarn has excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. It is ideal for cabled sweaters, textured stitch afghans, and every day accessories. While careful hand washing will keep your stitches crisp and sweaters long-lived, Wool of the Andes also felts beautifully with warm water and agitation, creating a fabric even more warm and durable than knitting alone.

Wool of the Andes Tweed gives you a whole new way to introduce texture to your handknits. Our tweed combines a classic palette with earthy-colored flecks of donegal tweed, viscose neps suspended in a very fine acrylic that allows them to be spun alongside the wool fibers. The tweedy donegal neps add a rustic and traditional appeal to everything from Aran sweaters and cabled outerwear to outdoorsy hats and mitts.

Wool of the Andes is also available in Sport, Worsted, and Bulky weights; the machine washable convenience of Superwash in Worsted and Superwash in Bulky.

This yarn is beautiful, so beautiful in fact I'm ordering more as quickly as I can. The North Pole Heather is my favorite. I have a store on Etsy and do amigurumi characters. I have a Kitty almost finished and it's beautiful. My order was packed neatly and arrived quickly, thank you so much. I will certainly be ordering more colors, Jackie

I have made 2 children’s jumpers, one in Papaya Heather and one in Marine Heather. Both turned out really well. This is a great everyday yarn. They wash well. Love the colours. A great priced yarn for everyday knits.

I have a question please Does this wool shrink & felt? Or is it more of a superwash & stable because of the netting? I felt many of my projects.

I've ordered this a couple of times (and still have on my Wish list) in Firecracker, Persimmon, Indigo. I agree with prev. reviewers that it's a bit light for a Worsted, but I'm finding that across many yarn brands lately. At. first, I found WOTA a bit of a rough hand, but it tends to soften while working. I made a lovely cabled cardie from Firecracker. The colour reminds me of the red/black paper that covered firework when I was a child (remember the shredded black and red paper after they went off?) Indigo looks different depending on the light anywhere from blue to purple. Persimmon is dead on.

I bought 8 skeins in Down Heather for a cardigan and it came out beautiful! I get tons of compliments and always get asked what the yarn is. It is very warm and will be a winter staple. The tweed looks beautiful. It looked even more amazing after blocking. My only complaint is that it is a little itchy so I will have to wear long sleeves under it.
