Wool of the Andes Superwash

$3.99 50g / ball

For the sweater you’ll wear a thousand times or the blanket you’ll use every night, our classic wool yarn is spun and plied carefully to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist. Spun from Peruvian wool, the strong fiber has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape that serves a wide variety of uses. Wonderfully warm for all weather, this sturdy, all-purpose yarn has excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. It is ideal for cabled sweaters, textured stitch afghans, and every day accessories.

Wool of the Andes Superwash is the same worsted weight Peruvian wool, specially treated to prevent felting so you can enjoy all the warmth, structure, and durability of wool with the convenience of machine washing. Usable for all the same things as regular Wool of the Andes, the superwash version is particularly excellent for projects that are heavily used or difficult to hand wash, such as gloves, blankets, and children’s clothes.

Wool of the Andes Superwash is also available in Superwash Bulky. Feltable hand wash Wool of the Andes is available in Sport, Worsted, and Bulky weights, plus the classic style of rustic Tweed.

Oh my. I've used this yarn for years and have always loved it---still do! The great number of colors means I can design in solids, or mix analogous colors for beautifully blended items, which I do very often. I've never found it to be scratchy, but I always wear my wool sweaters over long sleeved cotton turtlenecks for the layered look, and I also live in a cold winter climate. I don't hesitate to recommend it.

For a superwash i was surprised how scratchy this yarn was. I did expect scratchy and knew it would not be near my skin. It is a value yarn after all. The color mineral is actually very purple. I was hoping for grey blue with purple undertones. That is more monitor issues though. My largest concern is the thin feeling this wool has. I was hoping this yarn would compare to galway but it does not. I do love the color choices though. I would consider buying it again because of the colour

The material of the yarn is good, but I am mainly warning users that the color "Almond" has very distinct pink/red undertones. It is not just a Kahki/Tan color.

I have orderde a large amount over the years of this yarn. and even though you say in some reviews its scratch its not really. being mom is a crocheter it crochets just like a worsted and as you use it as you should know it softens up as you touch the product over time with the oils in your fingers and skin to soften it more. Its an a excellant yarn. and we will always use more in the fututre.

Glad you had another sale! Purchased a different color that is just as pictured (blossom Heather). Especially soft after wash with kookaburra special wool wash. White hit chocolate coat is looking good! (In pink)0
