Wool of the Andes Superwash Bulky

$7.99 100g / Hank

Wool of the Andes Bulky is now machine washable! Our classic yarn, spun and carefully plied to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist, is now available in an easy-care option. Dramatic stitch patterns and large cables are appealingly displayed, with many great colors to choose from. We love using it to knit up simple, comfortable sweaters that can now be machine washed.

This is a nice quality Aran or Heavy Worsted Weight yarn. Definitely not the equivalent of the Wool of the Andes Bulky yarn.

I have now knit two Log Cabin blankets out of this. With my 20+ years knitting experience I will say this does split but I've dealt with much much worse. If you're looking for super super soft wool, this is not the best choice. But if you're looking for warm and durable then this is great. The fact that it was a good durable yarn and superwash was what sold me on it. I like the colors a lot but I'm hoping they expand the colors.

I personally found this yarn easy to work with, but not the coziest (in other words, softest), and I did notice it had a tendency to split at times. I was still able to make a very nice baby blanket with it, however, and I like that it's Superwash - a good feature to have for a baby blanket!

Very disappointed. I was super excited to start crocheting a blanket for my husband and am having so much trouble because this yarn is splitting like crazy!

This yarn split terribly. If the needles snagged a stitch during down time it takes an hour to work the thread or ply back into the sweater one thread at a time. I bought this yarn for a learning project which worked fine. But with the way it snags, it will only be a knock around sweater.
