Sale! Hawthorne Fingering Multi Yarn

$9.09 - $12.99 100g / Hank  Original Price: $12.99

A reflection of the great Northwest, Hawthorne is a yarn inspired by the varied and vibrant place we call home. Each colorway shows off hand painted hues and surprising pops of color that are as distinctive and exceptional as their namesake neighborhoods. With a high twist for durability, this fingering weight yarn is wonderfully sturdy and unquestionably colorful.

Please note: Hawthorne is a hand painted yarn and colors may vary from skein to skein.

I really like this yarn. I find it has a really great natural feel to it. Some of the other reviews not liking the texture surprise me - the clues are there in the description; it's "sturdy" and "durable" with a high-twist. Is it the softest yarn? no, but then, it's not merino or some luxury fiber. The stitch definition is good and it makes cables really stand out. The yarn knits comfortably, doesn't split and looks great in stockinette or open work (no halo so design elements are very clear). I recently purchased "Springwater" and the colour represented online is very accurate. I am absolutely loving the subtle variations of tones.

While the yarn knits up well and I haven’t block my socks yet, the skein has less yardage than the handpainted stroll, is not as soft, and like the other reviewer, my fingers are gray from the dye and I am afraid to give these socks to anyone and have the dye run in the wash. My daughter loved the color but not sure she will wash them carefully.

It took me awhile to decide on this yarn. When I got it, I thought it felt a bit coarse. When I worked it, I described it as like knitting rope. But now that I've finished my socks, I love it and will definitely be ordering more. It's sturdy, dense, and despite that, not rough on the feet. The stitch definition is superb, and the colorways are gorgeous. It launders well. I would be hesitant to use it for things other than socks, though. It's not fluffy soft the way stroll is.

I like this yarn because when you knit with it in a cable pattern or any pattern for that matter you can really “see” it. I do think it is dense if that makes any sense and would agree with fellow reviewers that it’s not the softest yarn, stroll is definitely softer. It however feels to me as if it will be very durable and I am making socks. The fact that it is not as soft will not deter me from buying it. Would like more colors in blue mixed with greens and browns, khaki etc. Overall pleasant to knit with.

I received a shipment today and as always am awed by the amazing colourways this yarn comes in. Today was Alameda, Kenton and Eliot, all beautiful. In the past I have gotten Mt Tabor (my favourite) Vancouver, Woodlawn Selwood and Kerns, only Kerns was a little disappointing (a little warmer in tone and browner than expected) Overall I find the colours vivid, rich, and as shown on screen. The yarn feels strong and looks beautiful knitted up. I have used it for mittens and shawls and am super happy with it. Love this yarn!
