Sale! Provincial Tweed

$9.09 - $12.99 100g / Hank  Original Price: $12.99

With bright colors and subtle tweedy neps, this surprisingly soft yarn brings an exuberant and folksy charm to our selection of tweeds. The Fine Highland fiber has a soft hand with plenty of drape, but retains the solid structure of wool, making this perfect for cabling. Each colorway is created by spinning together a lighter and darker tone of the same color, which knits up into a surprisingly uniform fabric with wonderful depth of color. Neutral Donegal neps bring a distinct visual texture. Donegal is a series of viscose neps (think slubs or bits of lint) that are suspended in a very fine acrylic mesh which allows them to be spun alongside the longer wool. With such rich colors and that signature look of tweed, you have a vibrant and rustic yarn with plenty of charm.

I was too lazy to send this yarn back in the mail, and finally after a year I'm knitting with it. Like previous reviews note, this yarn is lighter than worsted weight. Most of the tweedy neps stick very far out from the kitted fabric and look almost like colorful pilling. This is not a look that I'm going for, so I'm painstakingly removing all of the neps that aren't knitted in and float on the outside of the sweater. Also, the yarn feels more synthetic than I was expecting with an 80-20 ratio.

This yarn is beautiful and soft, but is not worsted weight. It is a DK weight yarn. I knit the yarn held double to make a worsted weight hat. It is lovely, and I got some compliments on it.

I LOVE this yarn! I want sweaters in every color it comes in. it is soooo soft and a dream to knit with. No splitting, minimal shedding from the tweed speckles. The color is rich and it looks so great in a textural stitch. I'm obsessed. This is the best yarn I've purchased on knit picks

Please! Pretty Please make some more colors? I especially would love to have an deep evergreen/hunter type of green for a cozy cardigan. <3

This yarn is absolutely beautiful! I have two hanks of the pumpkin pie color and it's brighter than the image lets on. The flecks of color complement it really well, the yarn is super soft and easy to work with. The only complaint here is that it's not really worsted weight, but dk. I recommend size 5-7US needles for this rather than the stated 6-9US. I will definitely be buying more of this in the future!
