Sale! City Tweed DK Yarn

$5.39 - $5.99 50g / Ball  Original Price: $5.99

This yarn begins with alpaca and Merino fibers dyed two different colors and then blended together to make a subtle rich, lustrous heather. We chose neutral color Donegal tweed neps to incorporate into the 2-ply yarn. Donegal is a series of viscose neps (think slubs or bits of lint) that are suspended in a very fine acrylic mesh which allows them to be spun alongside the longer alpaca and Merino fibers. In the yarn, you won’t be able to see the acrylic web at all, and the neps will appear either on the surface of the yarn or spun inside the yarn strand. The high ratio of neps gives City Tweed a traditional appeal. The use of Merino and alpaca makes it soft and warm. This weight is gorgeous in two-color knitting. Retail: $5.99

"City Tweed is definitely the softest tweed I've ever knit with.  And springy! And pretty! It's particularly lovely in garter stitch as well."- Allyson, Knit Picks customer

"The City Tweed colors are so fantastic and the yarn is a pleasure to knit with! I just finished making a cardigan with the plum wine color and I already have plans to use it again!" -Meghann, Knit Picks customer

I bought this and made a few different pairs of fingerless mitts. I adore the plush softness it has and couldn’t wait to wear them. I ordered more in basil to make my grandson a cabled cardi for his birthday and just cannot wait to get my fingers and needles on it. Highly recommend this yarn.

This is softest yarn with such a brilliant sheen. I purchased Desert Sage and I also love the color. I cannot suggest any improvements. Just please do not discontinue this line1

Soft, squishy yarn. So nice to work with. Stitch definition is beautiful. I purchased this in Chipmunk. It's a warm toasty color. My only issue, and it's a personal preference, is that I wish the dark specks were brown rather than black.

This was the first time I tried a Tweed yarn and was thinking it would be as stiff and scratchy as an old horse blanket! Boy was I surprised how soft and wonderful it was to knit with, loved the Habanero color and made the sweater, Chickadee. Next I am going to buy the Lemon Curd. Incredibly lovely yarn and colors. This yarn does stretch longer than width, so watch the rows and measure accordingly or it will be down to your knees. Did I say I LOVED it? Thank you Knit Picks!

I bought this yarn for a project in a Jen Lucas book, a scarf. I am in love with it. It is so soft, doesn't split, and I love a DK weight, thinking what else I want to knit. I want to do a hat and wrist warmers/fingerless gloves to match. I have the blueblood color. One review says it doesn't wear well for a sweater. But, I am going to make one anyway! I have used Knit Picks yarns over the years, no complaint, but this is the best. No itch! Yet wool/alpaca! Love, Love Love
