I always make my daughter's school sweaters out of acrylic (that way when she drags her sleeves through her paint in art class, her dry marker board in spelling practice, and her neighbor's ketchup at lunch, I don't have to worry about it). I was excited to see Brava in 500 gram skeins -- an entire hoodie out of one skein of yarn! For someone who hates weaving in ends, what could be more perfect? To answer my own question, Brava 500 which worked consistently as a center-pull skein would be far more perfect. I have no complaints about the yarn -- it's cheap acrylic, comes in many colors, a good balance between softness and hard wearing. I have, however, resolved to only buy it in the normal size skein in the future. I've had some normal size skeins that center-pull well, and some which seem to tangle every other meter, so I probably just had bad luck with this skein rather than any problem inherent with the Brava 500. But if you have bad luck with a skein for tangling or texture problems (I've had those on occasion with the smaller skeins), 500 grams is A LOT of yarn to have to work through those problems. I'd rather weave in a few more ends than risk another sweater where the yarn tangles constantly for the whole thing.

I love how much yarn you get for the price, and I usually find that Brava is nice and soft, but I got one giant skein (white) that feels AWFUL to work with. It feels like trying to crochet with lotion on your hands. It feels as if someone wound up the ball by hand right after eating candy and now I have to crochet with gross, sticky yarn that feels squeaky in between my fingers and my hook. It feels like buying a new set of crochet hooks and using yarn on them the first time, and it has that weird snaggy feeling and you have to just keep using it until it gets nice and smooth, only it's like that forever. I sometimes get this problem with a skein or two with the regular 100g balls of worsted weight Brava, and I don't really mind it, as I won't have to use it for the entire project, but now I don't know what to do with 1090 yards of "sticky" yarn. Giving it 3 stars because the red skein I got was the Brava I love working with! I have no idea why this could be happening, but I wish they had some kind of quality checks before sending them out to customers.

I love brava yarn, and am super excited to be able to use this 500g skein, but please make it in more colors!

I love the amount of yarn. And I love the colors available. I started a baby bonnet last night and the yarn has a strange feel to it. It’s also not as soft as I would like for baby items. I am hoping when I finish this bonnet and wash it I will like it more. If I do I will alter my review.

I can't believe what I got for $10! This is a very nice, soft yarn for complete baby projects - no knotting or weaving balls of yarn together. While I understand why super-soft, angora type yarns are expensive, I just don't want to pay $60+ to make a baby blanket. And I don't think new moms should be given items that require special laundering. I had no issues with tangling mentioned in other reviews. My only complaint is that the color I ordered, Blush, was full-on pink, and not the pale color shown. It was very pretty, just not what I expected.
