Sunflowers Potholder and Coasters

This design is worked from the center outwards, using simple increases/decreases and easy colorwork to create the sunflower design. Alternating knit and purl stitches, similar to seed stitch, create the seedy texture of the center of the flower, and stockinette stitch combined with left and right leaning increases shapes the petals. Both potholder and coaster are finished with an I-cord bind off that provides a clean line and sturdy edge to this practical and beautiful table staple. The potholder has a wavy outline, while the coaster has a circular shape.
