Have you seen an axolotl? If not, do yourself a favor and Google them - their outrageously cute faces demanded that I create a pattern around them!

The pattern is written to work for any type of sock knitters; double pointed needles, magic loop, two circulars, you name it. The head gills and tailfin are stitches picked up and knit onto the sock - or you can cast on the stitches and sew them to the picked-up stitches as guidance. The legs are worked separately and sewn onto the body. If you're cringing at the toes, don't! They're created by a cast off; you'll find guidance photos within the pattern.

This pattern has two different photo tutorials for parts of the pattern that may be confusing. While any heel substitutions would be possible with this pattern, instructions are given for a heel flap heel.

This pattern is written under the assumption that you understand the basics of a sock. Though instructions are written in the pattern, I am not writing why things are done. This pattern is recommended for advanced knitters, or intermediate knitters who are willing to stretch their skills. Not recommended for beginners.
