The Six Mile Creek Raglan is a boxy pullover sweater with raglan shaping and seed stitch details. The sweater has minimal shaping and is worked in one piece - an ideal project for a first-time sweater knitter. It works up quickly in bulky yarn and has a stretchy, forgiving fit. I suggest choosing a size with 2-6 inches of positive ease, and you may want to choose a size with less ease than you typically prefer since the sweater is very stretchy.

The project begins with shoulder shaping worked flat (to avoid the need for short rows) and then the remainder of the project is worked in the round. The sweater is worked top down to the underarms, where the sleeve stitches are placed on waste yarn and the body stitches are worked in the round to the hem. Sleeves are worked during finishing, and stitches are picked up for the neckline (providing a little more stability to the neck). The neckline, cuffs, and hem are all worked in a seed stitch motif. To complete this sweater, you will need to know how to knit flat and in the round, knit and purl, and work m1L and m1R increases.

This sweater is designed to be worn with 2-10 inches of positive ease. Choose a sweater size with a finished chest measurement 2-10 inches larger than your bust measurement. The sweater in the pattern photo is shown with 6 inches of positive ease (54" sweater modeled on 48" bust).
