The Shale Beach Shawl features an elegantly simple allover chevron design, making it the perfect canvas for highlighting many of the beautiful tonal and hand-dyed yarns currently on the market. Additionally, the repetitive, allover lace pattern makes this shawl a wonderful pattern for beginning lace knitters. The pattern is fully charted, however, a few beginning rows are written out to aid novice chart readers in following along. The shawl may be worked in either lace weight yarn (approx 1,320 yds/1,206 m) held double-stranded, as is the photographed sample, or in fingering weight yarn (approx 660 yds/603 m) with a single strand. The Shale Beach Shawl looks equally well dressed up or down and, while seemingly delicate and lightweight, will keep the chill from your shoulders on a cool evening.
Yarn used in the sample is no longer available; we have made a similar yarn & color suggestion in the yarn calculator below.
