The Shake the Barley Hat falls somewhere between winter cap and beret. It’s not quite either, but has elements of both to make it appealing. There’s the comfortable turned-up brim of a classic cap to add warmth around the ears and the semi-slouch, floppy top reminiscent of a beret or rasta style hat. Both sizes are written with the same number of pattern repeats; however, you can easily lengthen or shorten the main body by altering the stockinette rounds within the pattern, or working the plain rounds (after round 41) to your own specification

One yarn used in the sample is no longer available; we have made a similar yarn & color suggestion in the yarn calculator below.

This is an awesome pattern! I've made the hat 6 times as a gift and it's always a big hit. Everyone I've made it for loves the extra warmth the fold over brim provides and the cool slouchy top.
