Shades of Gray, Interrupted is a contemporary cowl, worked flat and joined, either by seaming, or by using a provisional cast-on and a three-needle bind-off (pattern includes directions for both).

Shades of Gray, Interrupted may also be knit as a scarf, using a traditional cast-on and bind-off and not joining the ends. Scarf would measure approximately 48" in length.

The six-row pattern repeat is garter-stitch based, with five knit rows and one row featuring yarn-over stitches to create the openwork effect - no purling required and a great introduction to openwork.

The color not in use in each repeat is carried up the side. Both sides of the fabric are attractive, although not identical. The finished piece will require a light blocking.

A stylish choice for advanced beginner or intermediate knitters!
