The inspiration for thispattern came from an unused Lord of the Rings drawing for a shield. The cabled tam includes techniques such as 3 colors per row, colorworked cables, corrugated ribbing and stranded intarsia. The pattern is for a 23” circumference tam, ladies small to medium.

This is a beautiful pattern, and was extremely fun to knit. I just loved being able to work such intricate colorwork and cabling together. I do wish this page would show an image and kit builder option for the alternate color scheme, though. I knitted it in the "Icy" color scheme (used 1 ball each of Sagebrush, Clarity, Pennyroyal, Silver, Mist, Hyacinth, and Opal Heather) and it came out beautifully!! Definitely one of the projects I have the most pride for and show off often!

This is a really fun, cute pattern. I have made three in different colors. But there are some errata in the pattern. Mostly you can sort them out easily, but I will send them in separately.
