Sometimes, the most elaborate and the most simple pair together and fit perfectly. In this case, rustic tweedy yarns in the colors of denim, and a detailed pattern inspired by traditional brocade fabrics.

Despite the intricate pattern, this toque is not super difficult to make. If you can work in the round, change colors, work stranded colorwork, increase and decrease, and read charts, you can make it!

The pattern is charted.

You will need less than one ball of each color you choose (if you are using a yarn with less than 231 yds per ball, you will need around 200 yards of each color)

Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE KnitPicks fan -- very rarely use yarn from anywhere else and have their predecessors in every size. So I was disappointed when the KnitPicks listing on the right-hand side of the product page for the Denim and Brocade Toque lists size 1 needles. However, the pattern itself lists size 00 needles which KnitPicks doesn't even sell. Correct needle information should be on the product page for this pattern. It would have affected whether or not I purchased this particular pattern or looked for another one. I'm going ahead with size 0 needles and hoping for the best. I'll add to my comments if that doesn't work. Although, if the pattern runs as small as the other reviewer says, it's probably a good idea to use the larger needles.

Pattern well written, easy to follow. Not sure about the needle choice or yarn suggested. What I had when finished was much smaller and I normally am not a tight knitter. Pictures suggest a hat that is roomier than skull fit hat. Don't use tweed yarn, that is a bad choice for the pattern.
