This pattern looks complex, but in reality is very easy. The six-row pattern repeat is simple to memorize and fun to work. Using a ribbed reverse cable technique made popular by Lily Chin and others, cables are formed on both sides of the scarf simultaneously as you go along. Knit Picks Capretta lends just the right combination of softness, loft, drape and stitch definition to make this scarf both eye-catching and flexible, despite the ribs' thickness. Knit Picks Stroll, would be a good substitution.

This is a superb pattern. And Capretta is the perfect yarn for it - soft with great stitch definition. The scarf is soft, the cables are squishy and it lays flat without needing blocking. I never knew there was such as thing as a reversible cable! The directions for the pattern are correct, however I personally found them confusing and had to restart 4 times and finally ended up rewriting the directions for the first few rows. I'm glad I persevered - it is a great scarf. The pattern calls for 5 balls - I found that 4 balls was plenty.

Quite expensive for a scarf pattern but well worth it! The pattern is well written and easy to follow and the scarf is simple yet very rewarding to knit. The end result is absolutely beautiful! I used Preciosa tonal yarn and needed only two 100g skeins for the whole scarf.

Terrific pattern. I had never done a reversible cable before. So clever and perfect for a scarf. Capretta yarn is soft and drapes well and is ideal for this pattern. You don't need 5 balls of capretta - 4 is plenty to knit this up in the length that the pattern calls for. Now for a critique of the directions. The pattern is great - the directions are correct but, in my opinion, have room for improvement. The first few rows are confusing. I ended up placing markers to maintain my sanity. However, once the pattern begins to emerge after several rows, it becomes easy. As the pattern author states, it probably won't need blocking. Mine didn't and it lays flat, doesn't curl or roll - just perfect. I love it.
