Options Rainbow Wood Fixed Circular Knitting Needles

$5.24 - $6.29

Of course the waves of color are what first catch your eye. But, the beauty is more than skin deep. The layers of laminated birch give the needles a strength that is missing in regular wooden needles. The stability allowed us to shape sharp points- particularly nice for lace knitting. It also made small sizes more durable and resistant to breakage. Being wood, the burnished surface has a slight grip so slick yarns like mohair and angora don’t slip off at the wrong time. This quality also makes them an excellent choice for beginning knitters, who often have trouble keeping stitches on the needles.

The metric sizing system is more precise than the US sizing system. We offer two US size 1 - equivalent to 2.25mm and 2.50mm and two US size 2 - equivalent to 2.75mm and 3.00mm.

The 16" needle tips are 3 3/8 inches long, allowing for an easily formed complete circle for small circumference knitting. The 24", 32", 40" and 47" needle tips are 5 1/8 inches long. Since our cable is super flexible, the Magic Loop method of sock knitting can be accomplished with the 32" needles for one sock at a time. For two socks at a time, try either the 40" or 47" needles.

“Laminated birch needles are beautiful, light and strong, with a sharper point and more durability…These needles also have sharper points than most wooden needles, making them a good choice for lace knitting and other work that requires precision.”, March 2009

"I just received my new Harmony Wood Needle tips and cables. I had read on several sites how nice these needles were.  They didn't exaggerate at all. I have used aluminum, plastic and bamboo needles.  Until today,  I always preferred the bamboo needles.  Today, I am a convert to Harmony Wood needles.  The wood feels fabulous to hold.  The yarn moves along easily.  And they are so lovely and colorful.  I can't wait to replace my others with more Harmony. I am already 1/2 way finished with a new hat since opening the package. Thank you for a great product" Cheryl L., Knit Picks Customer

"I absolutely LOVE your Harmony needles.  The sharp points make them perfect for lace projects.  The texture – ‘feel’ of the needles is great – unlike any other wood needle I have used and us knitters are all about ‘feel’.  Colors are great – another sensory addition to knitting.  Thank you for this fine product." "I just want to say how much I love my wood needles and cable I recently purchased from you.  It's been many decades since I knitted anything and I've started off with a tumbling block pattern afghan, which means I change colors every few stitches (intarsia) something I've never ever done before.  I am so very very pleased how my yarn glides over the cable, how wonderful the needle(s) feel and how the yarn smoothly slips off the needle.  I also bought the nickel plated needles (same size) from you, but since I started with the wooden  ones, I haven't even tried the other.   I've never written to commend  any product purchase before now.  I simply had to let you know......." "When I discovered the Knit Picks Options, I thought I couldn't buy the entire set, so I tried a few points and cables, and fell in love. I soon discovered that I COULD buy the entire set. About that time the Harmony wood needle tips came out, and I purchased a few in larger sizes for use with my bulkier weight yarns. Love them too. When I saw the straights come out, I thought, "Oh, no, I can't resist!" Before I could purchase a set, one of my good friends at work bought me a pair as a retirement gift. And I had never even told her that I wanted them. Though I did turn her on to Knit Picks, as she is a beginning knitter, and needed to be pointed in the right direction. She is the second of my work friends that I told about Knit Picks, and both are sold.

The quality is too high and the prices much too reasonable to go anywhere else." Susan, Knit Picks Customer

I bought the US1 2.25 to make socks. The wood tip in that size is obviously too fragile because it broke the first time I used it. I've asked for a replacement or even better an exchange for a different type of needle. I DO NOT recommend the smaller size needles.

You should offer the size 4 and up in every cable length. I'd be more likely to buy if I could buy six sets of size 4s and 5s in every cable length than I would to buy the interchangeables because most of the things I knit call for a size 4 or 5 needle.

I purchased a US 3 fixed circular on Saturday at my LYS and I absolutely love it! I've been doing a lot of baby knitting in the last month. I'm a newish knitter coming from crochet. So I've been using an old set of acrylic knitting needles I had. The difference in knitting comfort is remarkable! The yarn glides smoothly across the needles and my tension and stitch definition is nearly perfect! I experienced a lot of drag with my acrylic needles and it tremendously slowed my speed. I am definitely purchasing a full set of the Rainbow Wood interchangeable circulars, additional tips, cords, and a set of the Rainbow Wood fixed circulars soon!

Excellent needles. Some have come apart and were replaced promptly. Some I have re-glued myself. What we need here are fixed needles with smaller length than 16 inches to make baby hats. I hate using DPN'S!

I purchased a #7 circular needle in this style in 2010. I had used it a few times and had great results with it; I loved how smooth the wood was and that the cable was more flexible than Clover's cables. Unfortunately, the cable ended up being its downfall. I hadn't used this needle in a few years and started using it again yesterday. After only knitting a few rounds the cord BROKE where it attaches to the metal connector portion and I had to scramble to get all my stitches onto another needle :( So, despite Clover's cumbersome stiff cables, I can say I've never had any of them break, even after owning some for over a decade! I love many of Knit Picks' yarns, but so far not a fan of the needles :/

I have quite a few sizes in fixed and interchangeable circulars in all the different styles. Knitpicks are my absolute favorite needles. I'd LOVE to be able to buy some in a fixed 9 inch cable for socks and baby sleeves, PLEASE!

Bought size 6 and I am extremely happy. Connection are secure and needles are beautifully smooth. They have just the right amount of "stick". The colors ar beautiful. When I went back to bamboo for another project, I realized I needed to buy more of these needles! Working on my second project with them now.

I am new to Knit Picks, as of January 2016. I had purchased the wrong size of Knit Pro Symfonie needles from another online shop and was searching for the same needles in the USA when I came across Knit Picks needles and decided to give them a try. I needed the size 0/2 mm 16-inch circular needles; a review I had that they were fragile and she had already broken 2 pair gave me some concern, but I decided to chance it. I completed the waist ribbing for a baby garment without incident. I'm very happy with their performance and will be adding more to my collection. I think unless the item is faulty to begin with, the needles are being held too tightly or the yarn tension is too tight, there is no reason for concern of breakage.

As a beginning magic loop user, I find these to be the best needles I have tried yet. They are firm but the cable is easily worked around. I love these needed and will be getting a complete set soon!

These knitting needles are great - beautiful, functional, fairly quiet, and reasonably priced. Cord is flexible and easy to work with and there is a great variety for any project. I have had a few small problems. A size 1 needle cracked as I was using it. It was promptly replaced. I also have had two different needles come out of the cabling, but with a dab of glue/epoxy they were like new again.

I have been using these needles since late 2008 and I still love them. I have at least 5 different brand sets of interchangeable- convertible and fixed circular needles. I love knit picks because they have a great return policy and back there product up. I noticed somewhere in 2010 that the harmony needles weren't as richly saturated with colors or lacquered as much as they were when I bought my first interchangeable set, however, I have recently ordered additional sets of Options Harmony tips and fixed Harmony's and the needles have that rich, saturated rainbow color that they had when I first started buying them years ago; also the cables are softer than they have been in the last few years. My friend ordered a set and hers were the same. It looks like the amazing quality of the tips and flexible cables are back and I love them. I'm ordering some more right now as well as the rosewood set.

The best customer service ever! I complained about a fixed circular coming apart and received an email from customer service the next day offering a replacement. Thank you Knit Picks, you have a customer for life!

I love these needles, and continue to swear by them, but seriously, don't get them any smaller than 2.5 mm. The little ones snap like twigs. It's a shame because the cord on Knit Picks' needles is by far the best, and nothing else I've ever used compares, but I'm unfortunately allergic to nickel, so no nickel-plated for me. I guess it's over for me and these needle sizes.

These needles are amazing. I've never used a smoother set of needles, I'm absolutely in love.

I purchased my interchangeable set, along with a number of fixed circulars,in 2008 and 2009. I really miss the old manufacturer. The Harmony tips used to have a deep, rich color saturation with a nice glossy finish. I have since purchased a one or two each, of the newer fixed needles, from the current manufacturer, in Nickel, Harmony and Caspian. The one thing that jumped out at me, was the cables, wow, we're they stiff and unmanageable, they were also noticeably thicker. Im so glad I bought a lot of extra cables for my awesome older interchangeable set back before these new ones came through several years ago. The tips aren't as sharp on the Nickel as they older ones used to be,but I still like them for traveling. Please make some softer cables,so we can use them for magic loop again. I miss the old KP needles quality :( I still love your yarn and good prices.

Love the Harmony circular needles. If I'm going to knit I might as well knit with something pretty. As I've just learned the Continental way of knitting, the sharper points make catching stitches and yarn so much easier.
