Options Caspian Wood Cable Knitting Needles

The smooth and lustrous surface of our Caspian wood needles allows your stitches to move freely for hours of comfortable knitting. Made from laminated birch wood in waves of color, the sharp, gradually tapered points slip easily into stitches so even complicated cables and decreases are easy to maneuver. The Caspian wood warms quickly in your hands, and the burnished surface provides just the right amount of grip to manage slippery yarns. The grooves in each needle help keep the stitches from slipping off the needle while they are being held either in front or in back of your work. Set of three provides an ideal size for any project.
Set includes:
US size 3 (3 1/8" long)
US size 6 (3 3/8" long)
US size 9 (4" long)
Small, Medium, Large

Not only are they beautiful but they're well designed. The size range is perfect, and I personally like the grooves because I can let go of the needle and not worry about dropping stitches. One request...give us some U shaped ones!

I recently "upgraded" my circulars & DPNs to the rainbow, radiant & caspian needles--LOVE THEM...I decided to try the cable needles &, unfortunately, am very disappointed. The grooves are killer--please, Knit Picks, have these redesigned to be smooth with no grooves. I would love to have a set without the grooves &, until then, my brand new Caspian cable needles will be "retired" as I would be afraid to donate them anywhere as they would only frustrate another knitter & possible turn off a new knitter.

I mostly like these needles. As many others have observed, the grooves are deep and have steep sides, holding the needles firmly in the stitches. But they really do slow things down and can be a problem if the needle size is a little too big for your gauge. If they could taper the grooves so the yarn can move in and out more smoothly, I'd give these 5 stars. Sadly, as-is they only get 3.

I love these cable needles! They hold the stitches well until you're ready to knit them. I've tried all kinds and these are the best!

the yarn is very difficult to move from one side of the needle to the other because of the rough grooves. Design needs to be improved.
