The narwhal is knitted in the round, starting at the nose and working toward the tail. The fins and horn are knitted separately and sewn on. Worsted weight yarn and size 5 needles are ideal for this pattern, but gauge is not super important, as long as the knitted fabric is tight enough to hold the stuffing in.
