Raspberry Beret meets the Scottish Highlands in this tam! The cable band of the tam is cast on using the provisional cast-on technique and knitted flat. The ends are then grafted seamlessly using Kitchener Stitch. With the yarn ball still attached, stitches are picked up along the side edge of the cable band and joined to work in the round. Once the crown is finished, stitches are picked up along the second side edge of the cable band, and two rounds of ribbing give a nice finished edge. As a final detail, a quick I-cord loop tab is sewn into place at the center crown. The tam is then blocked over a flat dish or pie plate for the proper shape.
