Named after a small Aran Island off the West coast of Ireland, this cable knit wrap evokes a sense of wildness and conjures up images of desolate moors and cold, grey waters in far-away places. Traditionally inspired, the centerpiece of this wrap is a chain link cable, flanked by Jacob’s Ladder and twists, recalling the ropes and knots of the fishermen’s ganseys that originally sported these iconic motifs.

Inis Meain is a wearable wrap, knit flat in a simple rectangle with no shaping. The garment is worked from the cast on edge to the start of the armhole, where each half of the stitches are worked separately before rejoining, forming an opening. This is repeated on the other end for the second armhole.

This pattern is both charted and written out.
