Inis Meain
Named after a small Aran Island off the West coast of Ireland, this traditional cable knit wrap evokes a sense of wildness and conjures up images of desolate moors or cold grey waters in far-away places.
Inspired by the style and tradition of the Gansey Fisherman’s Sweater, Inis Meain (Inishmaan) features a traditional chain link cable as the centerpiece of this wrap that represents the open weave of the fishermen’s nets. This is flanked by other traditional elements like Jacob’s Ladder and twisted cable patterns that mimic the ropes and knots that are a daily part of a fisherman’s life.
Cable patterns are all written and charted. Images also show version in Wool of the Andes Tweed Lost Lake Heather (25447).
