Vancouver, Washington- Get back to basics this fall with Knit Picks’ modern twist on a traditional favorite, City Tweed.

City Tweed blends two different colors of alpaca and  Merino fibers to make lustrous heathers in sophisticated shades like Enchanted, Blue Blood, and Plum Wine.  A high ratio of neutral colored Donegal tweed nebs is incorporated into the 2-ply yarn to give it a traditional appeal and added depth of color. Tina Birch, Knit Picks’ Vice President explains the new addition to Knit Picks yarns, “We wanted to add a true tweed to our product line, and were experimenting with fiber blends. We fell head-over-heels in love with this luscious blend of alpaca and Merino the moment we saw the first sample. Everyone was in my office petting it. The soft sheen of the alpaca lends elegance to the yarn, and the heathered colors are just delicious.”

City Tweed is available in two weights, Heavy Worsted (HW) and DK.  Heavy Worsted is the perfect choice for sweaters and outerwear, and the DK weight is stunning in two-color knitting.
City Tweed HW costs $7.99/100 gram ball (165 yards), and City Tweed DK costs only $3.99/50 gram ball (123 yards).
