GnarlyBone Cap
A wild hat for skiers and snowboarders!
A little "bad boy" (or girl) but fun for all. Two sizes, fleece lining optional.
It was fun looking up snowboarding terms while writing this pattern. I found that if I was a boarder, I would be a “raisin” (definition: old dude shredding. AACK!) I thought about naming it “Skeletons in the Closet” or “Surf and Turf Bones” but when I came across “Gnarlybone” I loved the definition: “a dude from the Marylebone section of London who loves to shred the mountain.” It made for a fun play on words for a cool hat with secrets. Most of my designs have secrets, but I don’t always disclose them! These secrets are useful: Optional: A word to the wearer in the “Baby Dreds” - it can be a name or a little message, and on the flap, a nod to a Late Night TV robot (Craig Ferguson’s skeleton sidekick, Geoff, with a mohawk.) Covered with bones from the land and bones from the sea, It’s a floppy, slightly tall hat, and fleece lined for warmth. Long earflaps are optional but useful in snow and can be tied up over the top of the hat “Sherlock Holmes” style to keep them out of the way if needed.
