Simply Alpaca Aran

$12.99 100g / Hank

You’d have to be an alpaca to get a more natural fiber, this is all of the compelling, next-to-skin softness of alpaca for the sustainably minded. The natural warmth of alpaca fiber combine with the heavier weight to create a wonderful yarn for luxuriously cozy garments and accessories that knit up in a trice. No dyes or bleach are used to process the yarn; a full spectrum of natural shades are created by meticulously sorting the fiber. As colors are naturally occurring, some variation from skein to skein is normal.

5 out of 5 stars a user of alpaca from friends and family who own alpacas, just received my yarn and OH MY, this beats any I've used, yes, it will stretch being 100% but for my needs, this is wonderful, softest Ive ever felt, like cashmere, also a much lower cost, most mills have trouble getting it spun without the thick and thin texture, this is spun beautifully, cant wait to knit with but few other wips, will most defininitely buy Much it!

I really like this yarn with its soft texture and lovely natural colors. However, like many other reviewers, I would NOT suggest this to be used on size 10-11 needles as the label recommends! Way too light for that....much better suited for size 4 at the highest, maybe size six double stranded. Nevertheless, the quality is excellent!

Stunning. Soft. I agree about the weight so I held it double for a hat. My daughter says it’s the softest and warmest hat I’ve made her. Definitely her favorite. Ordered more.

Just a warning to those who are planning to make sweaters from this - or any other 100% alpaca yarn. Yes, it's incredibly soft. And very warm. However, unlike wool, it will stretch out. Better to get an alpaca/wool blend for things like sweaters. Pure alpaca works better - in the long run - in things like hats, mittens, winter scarves and shawls.

I really like this yarn- soft and lofty with a bit of halo, but like others have stated, it is definitely not Aran weight - more like a DK. The label on the yarn says 4-4.75 sts per inch on size 10-11 needles. I’d say that if you use 10-11 needles you will wind up with a lace fabric.
