I read in other reviews that people don’t like the thick and thin quality of the yarn, but that is actually one of the things I like most about it. It gives it a rustic, homespun look when knit in stockinette. I also appreciate how soft it is. I have Wool sensitivities so it’s great to find a plant-based yarn that I can substitute for bulky knit patterns.

I really love cotton yarn, but was scared to try Billow with such mixed reviews. I finally gave it a shot when I needed something bulky for a quick knit and it's won me over. It is very soft and fluffy and does shed a little, though my first 2 skeins barely shed at all. Each skein is a bit different in how thick/thin the sections get, which actually makes for a more even looking finished knit, but can be a surprise when it suddenly gets VERY thin and especially when those thin sections pool together. You should know going in that you will have to wind it slowly (I did it by hand with the skein open loosely around my knees), it might shed a bit, and it has thin sections (which is clearly stated in the description), but it's also one of the softest, most billowy yarns you'll ever use, and the finished product, though it might pill some, will feel lovely to wear.

I didn't mind the thick and thin texture of the yarn; it adds variety and a vintage feel to the project. I made a Knit Picks shrug specifically made with this yarn and my problem is it stretched out so much when I wore it that I almost threw it in the trash the first time I wore it. I am a fairly new knitter so I had no idea that this was something cotton did. I've decided to make rip out my work and make a charity scarf out of it, but I won't buy it again.

The yarn is beautiful and feels lovely, but it’s super inconsistent with thin spots every 4-5 inches.

Love love love to crochet with Billow, but where are all my favorite colors??? The red and the purple were spectacular, and now I don't have enough to finish my projects. I'm honestly a little heart sick over the missing colors. PLEASE bring them back!!
