Chroma Worsted Yarn

$9.99 100g / ball

No matter your taste in colors, we have a rainbow waiting for you! Chroma is our color-transitioning 70% superwash wool and 30% nylon blend yarn. Pair the brightest colors with your boldest projects, or choose a subdued shade for gentle waves of changing color. The colors move gently through a single ply, creating subtly blended and shaded sections. Chroma is a single ply yarn that has differences in thickness that gives a handspun look to your finished projects. Note: Chroma is now Superwash! Please note that while the bands on some balls may still say 'hand wash only' - your Chroma is indeed machine washable!

You can also purchase four solid colorways - Bare, Brown, Grey, and Black. They pair beautifully with the multicolor shades for great Faux Isle and striped projects.

Also available in fingering weight.

For Chroma fans, please note that new colors now features a mirrored repeat instead of sequential.

"My first impressions of Chroma:  gorgeous, soft, fluffy, awesome.  The skeins are squishy round things that show all the gradual color changes.  The finished product has a slight halo, even without being washed and blocked.  Even with the softness and halo, I found it had great stitch definition as well.  I am thoroughly delighted to have Chroma, it is such a pleasure to work with."

I love this yarn. It is top rate. I am confused and baffled by those commenting about it being inconsistent in thickness. The description of the yarn clearly states it has a thick/thin texture. "Chroma is a single ply yarn that has differences in thickness that gives a handspun look to your finished projects." Reading the reviews is good, but you also need to read the description of the product.

This is beautiful yarn. As for the complaints about it being thick and thin, as says so in the description as well as that it is a single ply. I like that it adds some variation in texture. I have not had any issues, but do have to be a little more careful as it does split somewhat due to it being single ply.

I am very dissatisfied with the Chroma yarn. There were major inconsistencies with yarn weight throughout the 3 balls I have used. It is also stated as being superwash and machine washable however on the first wash I pulled handfuls of yarn from it that had come out during washing. I will never purchase this yarn again.

I agree with reviewers who said the yarn varied in thickness within a skein. The yarn has been 'fluffing' as I knit and I would likely ruin every inch of the yarn if I frogged it. I purchased 7 skeins for a very simple sweater that I won't be finishing. I'm trying to find a pattern for a baby blanket but that might not work the way the yarn has performed. I've used 3 skeins. I'd like to return the remaining 4 skeins. Knitpicks has disappointed me with two orders of yarn. What has changed with the manufacturing?

I really enjoy the colors of this yarn, but the yarn itself can have inconsistencies in the ply, resulting in lumps at one extreme and yarn that falls apart at the other end. I'm absolutely in love with how the colors change and think it's perfect for the baby blanket that I'm making, but I wish more care would be given to producing a sturdy product that I won't have to spend forever rejoining.
