This simple top down sock is perfect for those wanting to practice their sock-making skills. This pattern features the unique color changing yarn Chroma, which means your socks will be fraternal twins. If you prefer your socks to be more matching, you can use a solid contrast color to stripe throughout the body and foot of the sock by switching colors every 2 rows.

Yarn used in the sample is no longer available; we have made a similar yarn & color suggestion in the yarn calculator below.

This is an amazingly clear and understandable sock pattern. Using the Magic Loop, I made my very first pair of finished socks. I was so enthused by this success, I immediately started, and have almost finished, a second pair.

Response for April Sorry not a review, but comment for April as I see nothing has been posted. To clarify in the pattern. Stockinette stitch in the round is knit every round, so the pattern is correct. Stockinette stitch flat is knit row, turn work, then purl row.

I have to agree, this is such a fantastic and very clear pattern. This was my first sock and it has come out looking exactly like the pattern. Absolutely would recommend this super easy basic pattern to any first time sock knitter.

This pattern is great and easy to follow. I used it to make my first socks ever! The only thing is that the foot of the sock calls for stockinette stitch when the photos show that you knit all the rounds. I even started stockinette because I didn't want to deviate from the pattern but it looked ridiculous and not like the photo at all. I like this pattern and will use it again for sure.
