A master class can really help intermediate and advanced knitters learn even intimidating stitches and skills. This comprehensive collection from The Knitter recreates that experience on the page, with techniques drawn from the magazine's popular Masterclass series. The “seminars”—led by top teachers, lavishly photographed, and featuring exclusive projects—include Creating Perfect Lace, Steeking without Fear, Confident Cables, Provisional Cast On Methods, Flawless Fair Isle, and more.

I'm not sure this book is good for an absolute beginner. However, I DO think this book is good for someone who has reached the point of wanting to try new techniques. The book consists of masterclass articles from the (British) Knitter magazine. That being said, it uses British terminology and measures. But I like what it covers: choosing/substituting yarns, knitting styles, cables, lace, sterling, reversible knitting, stripes, kitchener stitch. There are 13 chapters. Each covers a topic with a pattern to go with it. I only dislike one pattern, for the cowl collar. I think as I progress, I can use the lessons. I then can purchase a book that goes into more detail as I decide on techniques I'm more interested in.
