Every knitter needs a stitch dictionary. Whether you pick out your favorite stitch pattern and cast on a scarf, use an interesting stitch to create interest in a basic sweater, or use these stitches as a jumping off point to design your own knitwear, flipping through a stitch dictionary is an easy way to become inspired. This book divides the different stitch patterns into categories, including knit-purl stitches, crossed stitches and cables, slipped stitches, lacy stitches, double stitches, twisted stitches, cast-off stitches, and fancy stitches. With this much variety, you can continue to discover new stitch patterns to knit for years to come!

The stitch patterns are beautiful, BUT the graphs are so miniscule and busy ( putting a mark in every square even if it is a knit on the right side and a purl on the wrong side) that for me, I am having to take a photo of the graphs that I want, enlargie it and rewrite it for simplicity. Unless there is a better, updated version, all I can say is that it is difficult to use. I keep asking why it was presented in this manner.

This book is great. It has tons of great pattern, very intricate, delicate, mesmerizing or simply mind blowing. But they are explained so simply that everyone, even a beginner, can do them. They are separated in three sectinos, knits and purls, twist and dropped stitch. Dropped stitches are too advanced for me but I did a lot of the patterns in the first two categories and got a lot of compliment. Pour les francophones, ce livre est simple et clairement expliqué. Avec chaque motif viennent une grille qui explique la confection maille par maille. J'ai passé ce livre à une de mes amis ne parlant pas trop anglais et elle a été capable de suivre sans aucun problème !
