Bare Palette Fingering Yarn

$6.49 100g / hank

If you enjoy classic colorwork designs like Fair Isle, dyeing your own color combinations can take your knitting to a new level. Imagine being able to control every nuance of color as you plan your sweater. It’s a magical experience. A really fun technique is to dye this yarn in a long self-striping sequence and then knit it with a solid color of Palette in a slip stitch pattern that creates faux Fair Isle - simple knitting that only looks like you were working several colors at the same time. This yarn also felts very well because it has not been bleached.

I absolutely love this yarn for knitting and dyeing, although you must be careful when processing it; it's 100% wool after all and prone to felting under too heavy a hand. It takes up colour very nicely and I got exactly the results I was seeking for my Fade shawl - and I just ordered another pack!

Wanted to try this fingering weight yarn, since I really like bare stroll and swish fingering to dye. Very loosely spun and felts too easily, even when I was very gentle and careful with temperature changes when dyeing. The yarn is on the drying rack now, and we'll see how it comes out when dry, but I won't be getting this one to dye again.

Very soft, natural yarn; I'm looking forward to dyeing with it soon! :) One critique, however; there are only two ties per skein (I believe the recommended quantity is at least 4 ties to a skein), and they are tied rather tightly, which does lead to improper penetration of the dye. I've replaced the ties on mine with looser and more numerous ties :)

The 100% Peruvian Highland sheep wool yarn is very soft and warm. It´s a perfect hand knitting yarn A Peruvian Highland sheep are a cross between Corriedale (for strength and long fiber length) and Merino sheep.(for softness and fineness). After working a few projects with this yarn I've grown to love its qualities. It is a highly recommendable wool to choose when you want to work with a good product!

This is a lovely yarn to work with the wool is nice and soft and I've had great success with RIT dye, pretty good success with natural dyes, and I'm going to test some jacquard acid dyes later. It also looks very nice undyed. I am also knitting up a lace stitch sweater using this and the yarn is holding up nicely.
