I bought the Amythest Heather for a girls sweater. It knitted up beautifully but I was disappointed with the look of the garment after it was washed. The heather part of the yarn came to the surface and it looks like it was felted. There was a design in the sweater and it was totally lost in the washing process. I would not recommend that it be machine washed.

I love Wool of the Andes, but compared to the merino superwash it is a bit scratchier. Yet, for the price and lovely color selection I’m willing to go for it.

I found that this yarn was amazing when it was steam blocked. I have recently resumed double knitting and consequently my stitches can be slightly uneven and require some 'tweaking' to even out. I went ahead and did that, but I still wasn't completely satisfied with how my gauge swatch was looking. Then I steam blocked the swatch. WOW!!! what a difference, all of the stitches evened up and all of the 'teenager' aspects (Lucy Neatby's euphamism) went away. If I want a worsted weight wool that's able to be washed, this is where I'll be coming again...

I LOVE this stuff!! I've done an adult sweater and 2 kids sweater with this and I'm so happy with the result. It softens up a ton after a wash and is super comfy :)
