Labeled as bulky but barely qualifies as medium/DK even after wet blocking. Because this is not bulky rather than returning I ended up finding my gauge with size 8 needles and followed the pattern as written for an extra large to get the medium I was trying to make. Indigo Heather is even more beautiful in the sunlight. Dark plum purple with just a hint of blue and shiny yet soft especially after washing.

This yarn is very pretty, but doesn't belong in the bulky category. It is much too thin. I will keep it for a different project, because the color is nice.

I bought this along with Might Stitch bulky and was surprised at the disparity in thickness. This definitely is not the same bulk as the Mighty Stitch and is very coarse in comparison as well. I'm going to knit a swatch and see if I can make it softer by washing, but even knitting with it is not comfortable. I'll stick to doubling up on Swish when I need a bulky wool knit.

I ordered two skeins of this wool in grey for my hat and I am in love, I have yet to wear it due to summer months but I've already had multiple people ask me for a hat in the same wool. It works really well and even when I made a mistake and unstitched a few of them it bounced back to its original state. will order again.

I love this yarn. It is soft and easy to crochet. I bought Briar Heather to make a beanie for my hubby and I am buying more to make one for me and one for my father in law.

i love love the color - i got noble heather... however! this is supposed to be bulky. its not, like at all. I can barely call it heavy worsted. idk if its just this brand or what but WOTA yarn always seems thinner than its supposed to be, which is annoying when trying to follow a pattern and then things end up being smaller than it should be. I have to start this project over now. not terribly happy about that

I have purchased this yarn in Mineral Heather, Solstice Heather, Indigo Heather, Marble Heather and Dove Heather. The heathered colors are incredible, they are so beautiful with blended colorways and subtle hints of color throughout the yarns. When out in natural light, they glow with color. I love the way that they knit up into scarves, gloves, hats, etc. The yarn is even more beautiful after it's been washed. It softens up and blooms, and is just delightful. I will be buying much more of this yarn. It is just wonderful, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it wears over time.

I purchased a bulk order of this yarn in bare. It's pretty soft and squishy - I've just started using it for my first sweater. I would describe the weight as "heavy", not "bulky", but it's a great yarn nonetheless!

Beautiful, soft, quality yarn! Noble Heather is a gorgeous color! I have Blossom heather and love that too. Thank you for the sale!

I made a shawl from this and it turned out awesome! I wanted a shawl to be worn over a jacket or as it for the cool Canadian Spring and fall, or the less than freezing winter weather, and it is perfect. Actually I would wear 3 seasons for sure. It drapes beautifully (8mm needles) and it is soft (not super soft, but I did not expect it to be). Will def. purchase again. I used Dove Heather and Marble Heather, stunning together!

I agree with other reviewers that this yarn is more of a Worsted weight than Bulky. Fortunately, the hat pattern I plan to use this yarn for has directions for Worsted and Bulky weights. Soft enough for a hat.

Using doubled strands and large needles (13) I made an afgan. It came out beautiful, a bit stretchy but soft and cozy. The yarn is closer to worseted weight than bulky. It took 18 skeins, but it's quite large...maybe 60" square.

This wool is a bit on the rough side, even after washing. I agree with a previous poster that it feels a bit sticky. It doesn't seem to have as much spring or bounce as other wools that I have worked with. I ordered the grass green and the color bled quite a bit during washing. Also, I don't think it's bulky, more like heavy worsted.

I ordered this yarn in bamboo heather and it has lovely flecks of purple and gray. I'm making a blanket for my mom's wedding coming up next summer and the squares are coming out perfectly. I love the way they look after blocking. Can't wait to see how it comes out. Hoping there is no short supply of this color!

The wool is pretty bulky as expected, fairly easy to work with, but it's not as soft as I expected it to be. It will be warm, for sure, but not sure I would make more items with this particular wool.

Great yarn and color, just not as bulky as I expected it to be.

I absolutely love this yarn and wish I bought more. I purchased 4 colours and they were true to if not better than displayed. I used a bamboo hook at 6.5mm and it worked up really easily. I made a crocheted blanket 70cm x 70cm and had it completed in 3 nights. I haven't washed it yet but would love to see how it does wash up. It feels soft, not super soft but soft enough and sturdy. I am going to buy more right now. The right yarn at the right price with the right colours for my crochet blanket making.

I ordered this yarn in Solstice Heather, and I loved it! It knitted up beautifully, and the sweater looked amazing. It was pretty soft (not as soft as Alpaca, but not as itchy as traditional wool), and didn't itch. I'd definitely purchase this brand again for future products.

This is soft wool (not super super soft, but definitely nice). I just received the Fjord Heather which is a stormier, darker color than I'd expected. I found it kind of drab, but interesting and neutral. My coworkers loved it however and one is actually purchasing it from me so I don't need to return. The picture is not quite accurate on the screen.

The yarn is inexpensive and the color is nice but it feels rough and doesn't slide nicely on the needles, it almost feels sticky and I have very slick metal needles. I bought the yarn to make a sweater for my toddler and I am not sure she will be willing to wear it as it is not very soft. I have not washed it yet, so I am hoping that perhaps that will soften it up a little bit. Because of the lack of glide on the needles I will probably not buy this yarn again.

QUESTION: Since this is 'machine washable' does that mean it's not a good wool to FELT? Any suggestions about the best bulky wool yarn to FELT? Thanks.

This is beautiful yarn to work with. It doesn't feel bulky while in the skein but blooms as you knit with it. I just finished a crib blanket and it is so soft and plush. It's going to a baby in wet Vancouver, BC so I'm sure it will be useful in their weather.

The bulky yarn is also more convenient for my arthritic hands and less hard on my carpal tunnel issues. The yarn is of course cuddly soft and feels good to the fingers as natural wool will. A local yarn shop regularly receives my patronage and swifts the hanks for me at no charge. This bulky yarn knits up nicely on my #10 Kollage square circular needles.

This seems more like a heavy worsted to me than a bulky yarn.

I am very pleased with the quality of this yarn. It seems to be softer than regular WOTA bulky and it's not scratchy on my skin. It knits up quick and makes a lovely fabric although I don't feel it's a true "bulky" at least for my taste. I would call it chunky yarn or heavy worsted, as I have to use a US 8 or 9 to produce a good fabric. Overall though I am very happy and love this yarn. Takes no time at all to wind into a ball.

I love all your products but I would really like to be able to make items using Boise State University Colors (Orange and Blue), so when will you be making a true orange in this yarn?

3 out of 5 stars

I really like the quality of the yarn, but the camel heather is a little darker than in the picture and it has a greenish tone to it.

this is a great bulky yarn which knits up quickly in whatever pleasing color has been purchased. although i understand customers' desire for convenience, i find rolling hanks of yarn into balls to be calming. my one caveat is that yarns on a computer screen appear paler than they do in person. i purchased the delft heather, almost a milky blue on the screen, but closer to air force blue in hand. not displeasing, just different. be aware.

How expensive would it be to produce this in a ball rather than a skein? If I purchase a skein at a yarn shop, they will wind it into a cake for me at no charge. For that reason, I tend to purchase skeins through my yarn shop.
