First, the good: The color is absolutely beautiful. The bad: I'm only about three-fourths of the way through knitting a pair of socks. I'm knitting them toe-up on a long circular needle. The pilling is awful. I've not traveled with the project: it stays in a project bag except when I work on the socks. With this much pilling already visible, I can't imagine what they'll look like after being worn a time or two. The yarn is not twisted very tightly, so the shreds easily.

As soon as I got this yarn (I ordered Raven) I was already in love with the gorgeous, squishy, kitten-soft skein. I was actually kind of sad to unwind it for use so I made sure to take plenty of pictures before I did. But the real delight comes when you actually knit with it. The multitude of colors work so beautifully together when knitted up, this colorway is going to make the most mysterious and elegant shawl. It's SOO soft and divine and I can't believe it's ALSO washable!! Sometime soon I think I should make an official announcement that this yarn and I are getting married.

You get what you pay for unfortunately. This is a very soft yarn but my husband only wore the socks I made him once and there is A LOT of pilling. Very disappointing. We only chose this particular yarn to get the color he wanted. Hoping for a better experience in the future with knit picks.

I, love all the yarns. The stroll lines are wonderfully soft. I rarely have had an issue with colours being true to pictures. Today though, I received my order and was disappointed in the colorway "Mountain Pass", which appears to be much more like "Canopy". In the picture, the Mountain Pass looks like it has some grayish blue and subdued shades, but in reality, it is much more bright green and few blue tones. I will keep it because it will cost more to send it back than I paid for it. So, just a heads up that Mountain Pass looks nothing like the photo. Still love the yarns though.

Picked up a few hanks of tonal for a particular project. I'm so happy with this yarn. It's soft and the hues are clear and lovely. I hope it wears as well as it feels. Just one note for other designers: I got hanks of both pearlescent and mocha, thinking that mocha was both more brown and darker, as it appeared that way to me from the webpage. When received, I noted that mocha is very similar in hue to pearlescent, and only one step darker, like one step on the value scale. They are both wonderful, but someone who designs with both color and light/dark values should not assume that mocha is a mid tone. It is very much lighter than it looks.

I was so excited to see new colourways, but alas mostly greens. Can we please get some brighter colours? The yarn is great to work with! I especially loved Summer Blooms. Yarn produces a very soft and pleasing end product. Made numerous dresses, cardigans and blankets with the yarn held double. Sometimes the same dye-lot can have different depth of colour but usually fine. My last skein of Pacific was a bit greener than I would have liked.

Used a hank to make a pair of socks. Had plenty of yarn left over. Great yardage and it's incredibly soft. Will repurchase!

My heart skipped a beat when I first unpacked this yarn ~ ultra soft, squishy, stunning variation of color!!! Drapes beautifully for shawls and neck wraps. A delight to work with!

Just started knitting (socks) with this, so can't speak to its durability. But it's a joy to work with - so soft! - and I'm loving the way the subtle color variations knit up. I will be looking to get more of this, once I've burned through current stash.

When I first tried Stroll Tonal sock yarn, I didn't like it. Not sure why, maybe because it's not quite as springy and poinky as my beloved German sock yarns. I thought the first pair of socks I made felt...flimsy. I make socks in single crochet with a lace hook. But then I wore them for the first time...then a few times more...and couldn't believe how soft and comfortable they have become. I don't think they're wearing quite as well as some of the workhorse German yarns do. (The only yarns that stand up to my husband's level of sock wear.) But this experience means I'll be buying some Stroll Tonal for knitted lacework and vests.

This is some of the finest yarn I've worked with. Shawls are beautiful and socks are comfortable and fashionable. These new colors are fantastic. All I can ask is you add the same amount of colors you did for Alpaca lace (my second favorite yarn)

This yarn seemed less splitty than Stroll solid. Could be due to the dark dye. The colors are fabulous. In particular, Raven and Train Station are wonderful darks. I have quite a few colors. Poppy Fields is the color of California poppies and a beautiful yellow. Just wonderful yarn to work with.

Have made several items with this yarn. Love the beautiful colorways. Hope you bring back gypsy and summer blossom. They were my favorites!

I love this yarn! The subtle coloring is lovely. It can be used for colorwork or a single color project that has more depth that a single color yarn. It is amazing to work with. It has a nice tight twist that helps the yarn hold up over time. I knit a lot of socks and that is so very important. Best of all is the price... You can easily pay $20-30 per skein when purchasing sock yarns that are nicely died. So to be able to get that same quality of yarn for a fraction of the price is fantastic! Thanks!

My package came in the mail yesterday and I immediately winded all 5 hanks of pansy yarn (it's a beautiful color that will accent my all white bedroom perfectly) and began crocheting a throw blanket. While I'm no where near done (I just started last night) I'm several rows in and am loving this yarn. It's squishy and soft to touch.

I love, love, love this yarn for socks but please, please, please Knit Picks bring back the Summer Blooms color! It's my very favorite of all the yarns I've used from Knit Picks!

This yarn feels so soft. It is a little splitty when doing lace and I don't know why, but I purchased two colors and one is a noticeably lighter weight than the other. I can't give it 5 stars but I love the tonal color shift, the softness and how well my shawl blocked

This collection of yarn is AWESOME. I have been making socks for quite some time, and this is my go to yarn. It's easy-to-use, has a fantastic feel, and easy care.

I love this yarn. It has become one of my "go to" yarns.I have made hats, scarves, shawls, capelets, and sweaters from it. Everyone loves them. I have used it for plain knitting, lacework, patternwork. Love it. Have used Gypsy, Pacific, Pearlescent, Pansy, Anne and Frozen. My family has marked about 6 more colors they would like to have something knit from.

I love this yarn. I made cowls and most recently a beautiful crocheted shawl. It is so soft and easy to work with. Also, the colors are very accurate and I am never disappointed. I hope they never discontinue it. The price is terrific too.

I purchased the Summer Blooms colorway and it is exactly as pictured colorwise. I have to say that I love knitting with this yarn! It was a breeze to wind and it is crazy soft. It feels really good on the needles too--and knits very clean. The color changes are subtle and look really neat!

I wasn't happy with coloring of this yarn. I used the seashell color way. The color changes were too quick and my project (baby booties/bonnet) almost looked "camo." It was very easy to work, though, and the softness once I washed it was AMAZING.

I used Deep Waters to knit basic socks, and they turned out very nice, but Deep Waters has more purple than described, .

I recently came up with a pattern for a very lacy crochet circular scarf using one hank. It's great for wearing doubled indoors in a chilly office, or tripled to fill in the neckline of a coat when it is chilly, but not winter-scarf-frigid. I already need to make two more for Christmas gifts after a coworker saw me wearing mine! This is the perfect yarn for it because the color variation adds depth and interest, but still makes it easy to match with an existing wardrobe. And being machine washable is a huge plus when making gifts.

I love this yarn. I first used it in variety of colors to make personalized fingerless gloves for each of my bridesmaids in patterns and colors to suit each of them as their gift for being in my wedding. They were a huge hit! Since then, I've have a lot of success with making items to sell from this yarn. Everyone loves the beautiful tonal colors. And the best part is that it is machine washable for super easy care!

This is by far my favorite yarn on Knit Picks. I've used the Wine Tasting, Blue Yonder, and Springtime colorways and all are absolutely gorgeous and true to photos. I don't knit socks, but I love knitting scarves and shawls with this yarn, they always turn out amazing and the yarn is wonderful to work with.

I usually use Felici and Stroll to knit socks, but the Kindling colorway of Stroll Tonal is perfect for my guy, so I decided to try it. The first three patterns I tried resulted in hideous pooling. Finally, I tried the Vanilla Latte sock pattern, and SUCCESS! No pooling whatsoever, and the tones of brown are just beautiful. The colors repeat themselves about every five rows and really pop. So, with this yarn, remember to be finicky about selecting the right pattern to show it off! Other than that, it is soft and great to work with. I will no doubt order more in the future.

I'm rating this average because I've had good and bad expeirnces. The pearlescent colorway is beautiful, and the yarn was lovely to knit a shawl with. The thunderhead colorway, however, was much muddier than I expected from the picture. The skein also looked like it was handled roughly, almost as if it was already pilling. Seems to be quite a lot of quality control issues with this yarn, buyer beware.

I love this yarn it is wonderful to work with. It's buttery soft and knits up with great stitch definition. I love the colors they are just as pictured. And best of all you only need one to knit a pair of socks!

I like this yarn - easy to work with, soft and the colors are lovely. HOWEVER, I do not agree that it is good for complex stitch patterns when making socks. I am making the Masala Chai pattern and the color changes come too fast and make it hard to see the design. That being said - it will look lovely for just a straight knit sock.

Beautiful feel to the yarn, and I don't usually like wools. I had used the pearlescent, which wasn't as silvery as expected, but still had some lovely light grey and beige tones that had a nice soft hue to them. More earthy than silvery.

This yarn is an absolute dream to work with! So soft and silky, with great stitch definition. And the price can't be beat. Making Tiny Owl Knits beekeeper's quilt with lots of different fingering yarns, and this one is my favorite so far. The color changes are beautiful. Couldn't be more happier with this yarn!

Love this yarn! I have made light sweaters and baby blankets with it - it is very comfy. Could you please bring back that yummy, sunshine-y yellow color?

Just beginning a sock using Wine Tasting in a slip stitch pattern that flatters the colour changes in the yarn. It seems soft and knits up with nice stitch definition. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy this and the stroll handpaints I still have in my stash. Shipment was quick to arrive and shipping costs reasonable to Canada. Very happy with my entire shipment and will provide feedback on the rest as I get to them.

For a Tunisian crochet mobius wrap, I bought Stroll Tonal as a substitute for the designer's-choice superwash merino yarn that is more than twice as expensive, and I couldn't be happier. It has a soft and silky hand, and I know it will produce a lovely wrap. KnitPicks always comes through with affordable, yet luxurious, yarns.
