“The new Knit Picks handpainted sock yarn, Stroll Hand Painted, looks awesome! I’m so happy that Knit Picks came out with a machine washable handpainted sock yarn. What a pleasant surprise…The colorways of the new yarn are really, really cool!”  Jmf Knits

I knitted socks using the Gumball colourway and they have to be the softest (and most colourful) I ever made. They are wearing well so far, after quite a few machine washes. I loved working with this yarn and am looking forward to using it again.

This yarn is wonderful to work with. I made shawls with Gumball and they are beautiful! I'm working with Coffee Shop right now and I like the colors, but there is not a lot of contrast between the brown, the gray and the purple. I'm looking forward to working with some other colorways.

so very disappointed with this yarn - 75% through the pattern and the stripes started pooling horribly, destroying the look of the sock pattern

I found the yarn to be rather thin compared to Paton's Sock Yarn. I love the colors but will not purchase again

I bought Koi Pond to make my brother a pair of wrist warmers and I have to say how impressed I was when I got my skien. I was amazed on how soft the yarn was and how flexible it is as well. I fell in love with this yarn and decided that I had to make myself a pair with this. The colors were very vivid on my skein so I was pretty surprised on how the transition of the colors were. I will have to order more in the future.

Oh I could not be happier with the colors in this gorgeous Make Believe Stroll Hand Painted yarn. The socks made out of this stuff will be completely scrumptious. Will definitely order again. Thank you sooo much for delivering the package in such a timely manner.

I agree with many of the other reviewers: the colors are SO different from the pictures! Still, after receiving Koi Pond and getting over the initial shock, I knitted them into what are undoubtedly my favorite pair of socks. I have used Make Believe, Aloha, Northern Lights, and Coffee Shop as well as Koi Pond to make my favorite projects. I machine wash on gentle in a bag and lay flat/ use sock stretchers to dry.

Gorgeous soft yarn, easy to work with - I bought 'Gumball' and it is delightful and colourful! My only issue is that after wearing the socks a bit they have pilled a lot- I've only handwashed them rather than machine washing and along with other reviewiers, I would avoid that because I think that would only make it worse. Compared to a lot of other sock yarns on the market though, this is a high quality at a great price.

This is the nicest yarn not one single knot in the skein very beautiful color (tiger eye).A true pleasure to work with

I have found that any of these colors will match up with one solid color stroll tonal. This makes truly exceptional shawls. I even tried one of the stroll glimmer colors with koi pond. Looked like I ordered a kit. This yarn is fun to work with and watch the color patterns unfold. The addition of a solid adds to the fun.

After one skein of renaissance, I was hooked. Unfortunately, not all the colourways are as described. The koi pond I received has significantly more orange, tropical's sunshine yellow is a little pukey, northern lights doesn't have the same breadth of darks. Maybe that's part of why they're on sale? Anyways, I suggest you not be too attached to getting what's in the photos.

I bought a hank of Renaissance for some fingerless mitts that I wanted to knit for myself. The jewel tones were vibrant and rich; my monitor did not do this colourway justice! Beautiful colours and the yarn is so smooth and soft. I will definitely buy this colourway again and am looking for projects to use with the other varieties in this line.

This yarn is delicious. I have been making a feather and fan wrap, and was far into the project when I realized that the pattern was wrong. I had already had to restart the project several times at the beginning, thinking it was *my* skills that were to blame. I had never knitted feather and fan, and it just didn't look right. When I went digging into more information online about the pattern, I found out that it was supposed to be a 24 repeating stitch count pattern, and that my pattern was completely wrong, and that the cast on stitch count was just wrong from the beginning. So, I have very carefully pulled it apart, and am starting over again. This time with the right stitch count. And, it's beautiful. The yarn is perfect, and plush, and soft. It is so colorful (I purchased the gumball color for this project, and it's lovely). I also have the coffee shop color which is gorgeous! But, even with all of the pull aparts, it looks perfect. I'm nervous about washing it. But, I will wash it with silk wash in cold water and hope for the best.

I love stroll. I've used all the stroll varieties and can recommend them to you all. However, I will say machine washing can shrink the sock slightly so making a sock very snug not be wise. I knit usually on size 2.5 mm but for my stroll I use 2.75 mm and find that after about 7 washings in normal wash they shrink slightly to the perfect size. I find machine washing in separate delicates bag in cold water works well. However, I tend to handwash my socks in soak which means they are perfect. No substantial fading or holes - it works well.

I really love the softness of this yarn. My only problem is that the colors aren't as described. The Koi Pond that I ordered has no blue in it. It's mostly muted greens with some orange. Definitely not cool colors with clear definition.

I bought a skein of Sweetie, which is the perfect girly girl pastel. I was a little jealous that I bought it to make presents with because it was so soft and squishy in the hank. I intended this hank for a couple of children's hats, but it was so soft I turned it into a blanket instead.

I had been skeptical, but finally caved and bought myself a skein of gemstone stroll for some socks. I am so sorry I've waited! The colors are beautiful, and the yarn is so soft- much softer than Hawthorne, my previous go-to.

This yarn is soft and the colours are beautiful. It doesn't itch, and it knits up beautifully. My only issue is that the pictures really don't do the colours of the yarn justice. I was waffling between Coffee Shop and Make Believe. They both have similar colours. I ended up buying Coffee Shop, but in retrospect probably should have ordered Make Believe. Still, the end product turned out beautifully, so I can't complain.

This yarn is very soft and beautiful! For someone who normally finds even high quality wool itchy at times, this yarn passes my sensitivity test! The ONLY drawback I can see from working with this yarn is that it tends to split sometimes. (I was working on size 1 DPNS (2.25mm))

I followed the washing instructions and my socks lost all body they had. I will not machine wash my next ones.

I am very disappointed with the durability of this yarn. It is a pleasure to work with but my socks lost all their body after just one washing. It is labelled machine washable. I won't be machine washing the other skeins I have yet to knit.

This is my new favorite sock yarn! Knits up beautifully and is very soft to the touch. Much softer than what I have been buying from the LKS for twice the price. Also love that it is superwash. I've bought the tonal and it is just as nice with more subtle color variation. Please keep bringing us this wonderful yarn!

I think this yarn is wonderful. I will order more. Make Believe is my favorite. I love Knitpicks; I think that their company is the greatest. Keep it up Knitpicks.

I love all of the Stroll yarns and have never had a problem with knots, snarls, etc. I especially love the Make Believe colorway and have knit quite a few pairs of socks out of it because everybody has asked for it. Though I have to say I really wish you'd bring back the Imagination Hand Paints. I never got a chance to order a few of those that looked so beautiful. I'd love some more of the Mermaid color and the Looking Glass - I bought enough Wicked Witch to make a shawl. Please bring it back!

This stuff is delightful! Makes fine partial-row stripes on adult-sized socks. Nice and soft. Really beautiful stitch (mini-cable) definition on size 1 bamboo needles! This is great gift-sock yarn, given the very low price. Bought some of the "tonal" colorations, also. Imagine they'll work up equally well.

This yarn rocks! Re-knitted the first inch of patterned knitting several times, trying different stitches, and the yarn held its shape beautifully despite three or for complete "frog-outs." The coloration comes out in semi-stripes, with no color pooling. And the stitch definition on size 1 needles is lovely. Plus, it feels soft to the touch. This is a crazy excellent deal! :-) Hope it washes as well as it knits.

Beautiful yarn. A pleasurable experience to knit with. Unfortunately for me, it is on backorder right now. Darn! Love, and I mean, love "cartoon"; and "watermelon." Am looking forward to trying the other colors.

My new favorite sock yarn, I love how unique the coffee shop colorway is.

I absolutely love this yarn. It is easy to work with and the finished product is so soft. I made a dreambird shawl out of it and the drape was beautiful and the colors were vibrant and full of life.

Make Believe turned up, and has far more pink and turquoise in it than the photo would have you believe. I thought the greens and purples would have been perfect for a Hulk-themed project, but the colors ended up being all wrong. Gave it away as a xmas gift.

Watermelon is more a case of Lily Pulitzer Goes Goth! Way too much black and not enough red, but the feel is nice.
