I really like this yarn and generally good luck with KP yarns. Sometimes getting the colour right on the thumbnails is difficult, so I just wanted to report that 'Elise' is a lot more Kelly green than what the description and photo would lead one to believe.

This yarn does not hold up to rough man hands. Long tail cast on fuzzes it so bad I had to cut balls off the strand midway through the casting on. Multiple cast on attempts required the bad cast on to be cut off and thrown away because it got so thin. Because it fuzzes so bad it has little stitch definition which can be good or bad depending on what you're doing, I'm doing double knit colorwork so it works to smooth out the pixels. Sheds a lot of guard hairs while knitting. Makes nice bouncy hats with a lot of stretch. No more itchy on my bald head than any other wool I've wore.

This yarn works up closer to a sport weight than fingering! I wouldn't recommend this yarn for projects that require gauge. I really love this yarn. I was so excited to start my project. The yarn is high quality and enjoyable to work with. It would be great for projects that don't require a certain size.

I have had to frog this yarn over and over and over. However, it has withstood the challenge admirably. I can't even tell, on the knitted segment, where the multiple froggings occurred, which is rare for alpaca yarn. As someone who's very mediocre at knitting lace, then, that is a definite plus for me. I also find it pleasant to work with and I like the colors. That said, yes, this yarn does have a serious halo of guard hairs. If you don't like that or if you are hypersensitive to having such things against your skin, look elsewhere. It doesn't bother me, so your mileage may vary.

I was so excited to get this yarn because the color is beautiful and at first sight it seems like it's going to be wonderful to work up. I also found it to shed horribly, which didn't bother me too much, but it's incredibly itchy. I'm extremely allergic to wool, which is why I thought the alpaca would be a better option, but my skin must be too sensitive for animal fibers in general. If you don't mind the shedding and aren't sensitive to fibers it really is beautiful and lovely to use.

So far so good. I've not finished the project that I'm working on only because I've had to rip it back 4 times now. That being said - it holds up suprisingly well to the abuse of being frogged over and over. It's so soft and squishy and an absolute pleasure to knit. I'm using this for the first time (or any alpaca yarn) in my first shawl - hence all the frogging - I'm not a good chart understander LOL I LOVE LOVE LOVE this yarn as it's holding up so well in the actual knit part of it. How it will block and wear over time, I do not know, but this part is two thumbs up for me!

I bought this yarn in two Colors and I'm disappointed because this yarn is very itchy. I made a great lace shawl which came out great but cannot wear near the skin. I will buy the gloss fingering instead in the future or the capretta which I really enjoyed.

I just started knitting a shawl with this yarn, and am liking it so much that I ordered two other colors. I am not experiencing the shedding that others have noted. Also I am not seeing a high volume of guard hairs.

The only reason I'm not giving a very good is because I haven't started working with it yet. That being said it was thicker than I anticipated for fingering weight, but at most it's a heavy fingering. The Sir Walter that I ordered is deeper than pictured, unsurprisingly, and happily. It's the perfect hunter orange, deep, intense and bright but not neon. I love it and will be great for the men's sweaters or socks I will make with it. It's gorgeous for contrast for men's items in particular, but can easily included in a feminine design. As far as texture it's rougher than my alpaca cloud lace but not in a scratchy way. It may just be the way it was spun. I also got some Beth which was happily darker than what was pictured by maybe a shade level. Going to make perfect collar and cuffs for a future sweater.

The halo on this yarn is no joke. A very cozy fingering weight. It knits up softly, but like, not as soft as "cloud" might suggest. Wouldn't recommend for anyone with even a slight wool sensitivity.

I bought 1 each of Isobel and Sir Walter, because my husband wanted orange socks and I wanted blue/teal. The colors were spot on, but the yarn sheds terribly, it splits, it isn't very soft and I hated working with it. I will not buy this again.

The colors are lovely and I have not experienced a lot of running when I have washed a finished product. But the yarn was processed rather crudely: by the time you pick out the guard hairs, you have essentially a lace-weight yarn. Maybe those hairs are supposed to be the cloud, but they are more like bristles.

I love the colors of this yarn and bought many hanks to knit On the Spice Market by Melanie Berg. The yarn came and it is soft and the colors are just right. I was really impressed by the selection of colors. However, as the colors are knit with a white (Sophia) base, I decided to give them a rinse before I started knitting. I am so glad that I did. I had 6 colors and I think that they all bled horribly. I can't imagine what my project would look like if I had not rinsed them. I am still not confident that the dye is set, so I am going to do a citric acid rinse before I begin. I think that this yarn is nice and the color selection is great and the price is very reasonable, but be warned that the yarn needs treating if you are going to mix colors!

Downtown Abbey? Maybe. But hellloooo, JANE AUSTEN! Love this yarn and the color names are amazing!

One of my favourite yarns from KnitPicks! I first got this as part of a Sunset Shawl kit in a bare cream colour, and I haven't stopped knitting with it since! It is absolutely the best thing for soft light shawls and barely there cardigans against the skin. 100% superfine alpaca feels glorious and luxurious.

So very soft and wonderfully light, this yarn has rich beautiful depth of color and is such a steal! Delightful to work with, feather soft and light once it's knit, this stuff is good for laces and sturdier knits as well. The names remind me of Jane Austen characters, which is an amusing little kick. The pictures available do fairly good accuracy/justice to the in-person colors too, which is so very helpful!

I was very excited when Alpaca Cloud became available in fingering weight as I love the lace weight version. Sadly, I do not find this yarn to be the same quality as its lighter sibling. The colors are lovely, but the fiber sheds A LOT. Instead of being lacy, my project is incredibly hairy. As it's a gift, this is unsuitable for my purposes.

This yarn is absolutely lovely to the touch...BUT the colors are not at all accurate. The pictures shown on the website are so much darker than the actual colors. I ordered the Daisy and the Emma. Emma is a bit darker but still very much like the image. I'm pleased with it. But the Daisy is completely different. I thought they sent me the wrong color. It's very dark gold. No yellowy mustard tones here. Disappointed. It would be an excellent yarn if they could just get the images to match the actual yarn so it wouldn't be a gamble to buy.

I received my Alpaca Cloud (Elizabeth) as a gift. It is so soft and squishy. I can't wait to use it for something special. The quality and color is beautiful.

LOVE, love the names for these!! Can't wait to get my hands on some:)

Can't speak to quality but looks enticing. So many colors, really need to have a color card available to distinguish between them! Have found Andean Treasure to be a lovely yarn, but really more a DK weight than a sport weight; am hoping this one handles a little heavier than fingering.

I haven't purchased this yarn yet, but if you are a Downton Abbey fan, this yarn is for you. The names of these yarns is awesome!!!! Thanks Knit Picks for making this yarn line fun. Now I have to find a project so I can purchase this yarn.

I am so incredibly excited about this. I adore the lace yarn(I bought like 200 grams of it to make a shawl that Im in love with) and I've been wanting this in a fingering weight since the lace weight arrived at my door. I cannot wait to finish the socks i'm going to make out of this.

I love Andean treasure so I'm sure I'll love these too. Love all the extra colors. Also I think these are named after Downton Abbey characters? Mosely and Bates?
