Weald Throw
Irregular short-row stripes in an ever-changing palette of gradient yarns turn a simple Garter Stitch blanket into a piece of modern textile art. Modular construction with a mix of simple knitting and more engaging techniques makes this a fun project for intermediate knitters.
This throw is worked modularly, three different block designs are worked in different sequences to create three long strips. These strips are then joined by picking up and knitting along the selvedge of each strip and then working a Knit Purl Three Needle Bind-Off. The Garter Stitch border is worked one side at a time, with mitered corners joined by a short sewn seam. The blanket is finished with an I-cord bind-off around the entire perimeter.
